Eden Theological Seminary is a seminary of the United Church of Christ in Webster Groves, Missouri, near St. Louis, Missouri.The seminary was established in 1850 by German pastors in what was then the American frontier. The pastors soon formed the German Evangelical Synod of North America. This, after subsequent mergers, became a part of the UCC. One of the early campuses in St. Louis became Normandy High School. The school was augmented by a merger with the Central Theological Seminary, an institution of the Reformed Church in the United States in Dayton, Ohio, in the 1930s, concurrent with the merger of the two denominations into the Evangelical and Reformed Church.Conversations at Eden Theological Seminary, beginning in 1937, led to the 1957 merger of the E&R Church and the Congregational Christian Churches and the formation of the United Church of Christ. Notable alumni of Eden include Reinhold Niebuhr, H. Richard Niebuhr, and Walter Brueggemann.Eden Theological Seminary supports a campus size of less than 1,000 students and offers on-campus housing and dormitories to its student body.

In the Writing Center, we will set you up with an individualized coaching session. Graduate coaches are available for Webster graduate students. Students from Webster's extended campuses are invited to send their papers to the Online Writing Center. Writing Center coaches help students develop strategies to learn how to improve and polish their writing skills and meet predetermined assignment goals. The coaches will not write or edit papers for students; instead, they will listen, read carefully, ask questions, and provide guided practice to build confidence in the student's own writing and editing abilities. We believe we will better assist you as "coaches" than as proofreaders or editors. Webster University’s Student Government Association is the student governing organization that sponsors and supports student activities on the campus. It is the main vehicle for student input into activities of the University and policies affecting student life. SGA coordinates and allocates a budget in excess of $100,000, reconizes new student organizations, and recommends changes and improvements to the University.

We offer three emphases within the English major: Creative Writing Drama Literature, Society, and Politics We also offer a minor in English and a minor and certificate in professional writing. In addition, we contribute to the interdisciplinary drama studies minor offered at our London campus. The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program is based on the principles of social justice established by the founding organization of Webster University, the Sisters of Loretto. Courses in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGST) are informed by feminist learning and research, focusing on the physical, psychological, social, political, and economic factors that empower and oppress women. Learning Goals for the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program The learning goals for the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program reflect recommendations from the National Women’s Studies Association. Upon completion of the program, students should: • Distinguish between sex and gender, including shifting definitions of “woman” and the social construction of gender, • Explain feminist theories, including standpoint theory, intersectionality, and womanism and demonstrate knowledge of key feminist theorists, such as Audre Lorde and Adrienne Rich; • Analyze the role of men in the empowerment and oppression of women; • Identify women’s contributions to history, activism, waves of feminism, culture, politics, science, religion, and the arts and the variation in women’s experiences across nations, cultures, time, class, race/ethnicity, ability and other social statuses, identifying strategies for social change; • Demonstrate critical thinking about major cross-cultural and global issues or “big questions” pertaining to contemporary women, such as domestic violence, reproductive rights, the shifting definition of motherhood, white privilege, male privilege, heterosexual privilege, the gendered construction of knowledge and social institutions, and the potential for interlocking oppression at the intersections of multiple social statuses (e.g., race/ethnicity, social class, gender, sexuality); • Produce independent research reflecting competency in one or more of the content areas, constructing arguments with evidence obtained from research that demonstrate competency locating, evaluating, and interpreting diverse sources, including statistics; • Apply research and knowledge for individual transformation, social transformation, and global citizenship.

The School of Communications at Webster University operates with one goal in mind — to educate and prepare its students to excel as skilled professionals in a global field of communications. To achieve this goal, the school takes a hands-on approach to learning. Students work with professional-grade media equipment as early as their freshman year. Who We Are: Since 1925, the Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University has provided excellent music education programs to students of all ages and abilities in the St. Louis metro region. Longtime St. Louisans may remember us from earlier associations as CASA (St. Louis Conservatory and Schools of the Arts) or as the St. Louis Symphony Community Music School. Exeriential learning is the process of making meaning in the world and creating knowledge from direct experience. Aristotle once said, "For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them." The Chelsea Center promotes learning through doing and reflecting on the process, which is often contrasted with rote learning. Learners make discoveries and experiment with knowledge firsthand rather than hearing or reading about others' experiences. The Chelsea Center believes learning is not a spectator sport.
The Hunt Gallery is an integral part of the educational mission of the Department of Art, Design, and Art History, as well as an important and highly visible aspect of its community outreach. The Hunt Gallery is a non-commercial, alternative venue for providing professionally curated exhibitions of contemporary art for the academic community and broader St. Louis area public. As a significant factor in St. Louis region's cultural environment, Hunt Gallery presents exhibitions of individual artists and/or groups of artists of regional, national and international renown whose works demonstrate significant aesthetic achievement and art historical importance.
