On August 8, Sutter Health Children's Center moved to our new home at the Anderson Lucchetti Women's & Children's Center on the Sutter Medical Center campus in midtown Sacramento. Our new facility features: * 40 private pediatric patient rooms with a sleep space for the patient's caregiver * A 15-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with all private rooms A Pediatric Day Unit to provide infusions, minor procedures, and preparing pediatric patients for surgery. * A Family Lounge with a washer, dryer and small kitchen * Playrooms, a teen room and a school room * A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with 61 beds, 3 to 4-beds per room, and more privacy for our families * A dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department (Ose Adams Medical Pavilion) * A unique space on the first floor for theatrical performances from the B Street Theatre and other artists * And coming this Fall, Sophie’s Place, a dedicated room for music therapy

Starting in the Spring of 2015 Yoga Moves Us was created as part of its effort an expand yoga programs into other cities and neighborhoods. What makes Yoga Moves Us such a powerful program is that it unites neighbors, it unites surrounding yoga studios and teachers, and ultimately unites individuals to a practice that is proven to create a healthier lifestyle. Yoga Moves Us is a California 501(c)(3) (EIN# 47-4189002) nonprofit organization encouraging health and Wellness as well as community connection throughout California and beyond. The goal is to create Wellness for the practitioners and a deeper feeling of community in neighborhoods. 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to program costs and to pay our teachers so that they may be able to share their love of yoga.

Sutter Health Plus is an HMO health plan affiliated with not-for-profit Sutter Health. Agency History Waking the Village was founded in January 1999 by two teachers committed to the belief that youth in crisis are brimming with courage, talent, and spirit. The founders organized a two-month bike trip across America with the goal of showing the youth what they could do, and showing America what they could do. Between January and June of 1999, WTV recruited and trained 11 guides and 17 youth to cycle across America. The youth ranged in age from 11 to 20 years old. Some had been homeless since birth. Some struggled with depression or bi-polar disorders. Some used drugs and alcohol to bury pain. Some had joined gangs. All were bold and resilient, willing to leave behind familiars to face unknowns. Over the summer, the group cycled from California to Florida. Along with facing the challenge of cycling 2,300 miles across the hottest parts of America, the cyclists took on the challenges of a nomadic life, riding 50 miles a day, through headwinds, monsoons, and 120 degree weather. In addition to cycling, the group visited the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, San Antonio’s historic district, the Gila Cliff Dwellings, and New Orleans. We also performed community service in each state we cycled across. This trip created the template for Tubman House which was launched on Martin Luther King Day in 2003. The founders designed Tubman centered on the same principles that guided the trip: • Recognize the strength and resilience of homeless youth. • Place youth in positions of power within their community to develop strengths and leadership. • Encourage youth to aim as high as they dare in establishing personal goals. • Provide relentless, holistic, individualized support to each youth as they pursue goals. • Partner with youth so their ideas and voices are reflected in every decision regarding their community and the programs designed to serve them.

While there is still no cure for HD, today there is more hope than ever that we can beat this disease. Until then, our chapter will strive to provide support and sustenance to our HD families, knowing that while research provides hope for the future, we must provide care for our HD community today. We have become an active community, educating ourselves, sharing information, and advocating for ourselves and our loved ones.

We opened our doors on January 21, 2010 and see patients 9:00AM-5:00PM weekdays. Since we have opened, we have found that our patients cluster into several categories: the homeless, those without insurance, those who have lost their insurance due to layoffs or employers cutting health benefits, those who have a Medi-Cal share of cost beyond their ability to pay, and those applying for county primary health care services who need primary health care until eligibility is established. All staff are volunteers and unpaid. We do not charge patients for medical services or lab testing, and provide some medications and immunizations through pharmaceutical patient assistance programs and grants. We accept patients only by referral from community partners with whom we have signed memoranda of understanding. The community partner provides a social services safety net while the clinic provides the primary and comprehensive health care.

History of the American Institute of Building Design AIBD Background & History Since 1950, the American Institute of Building Design has provided members with the resources they need to enhance performance and ensure continued growth and success. The AIBD was initially formed in the 1950 by a group of California designers as a means of improving design standards to the highest level and to promote credibility and public awareness. Many of our state societies have had independent organizations dating form the late 1940's and early 1950's. Now the nationally recognized association of professional building designers, the AIBD represents members in 47 states and has 23 chartered state societies as well as a growing membership in Canada and internationally. Because of interest and expertise, as well as individual state statutes, most AIBD members specialize in custom residential and light commercial projects. Our members are required to comply with states statutes and to follow guidelines established by regional building codes. Our membership is recognized and supported by various state home builder associations by the Farmers Home Administration. Many of our members are also approved to certify plans for Federal Housing Administration and Veteran's Administration on an individual basis. Many AIBD members serve on individual metropolitan area planning commissions and various municipal code review boards. The national headquarters for AIBD is incorporated as a non-profit professional corporation and maintains its headquarters in Washington DC. The AIBD is governed nationally by its board of directors, elected from eligible members of the state societies and members at large. State societies are chartered by the national board of directors after a minimum membership of 12 professional designers is established in one state. After being chartered, state societies may form chapters in compliance with the by laws of the Institute.

According to extensive research by the Leadership Council On Child Abuse & Interpersonal Violence, every year over 58,000 children are placed in the hands of court-recognized abusers during child custody disagreements, otherwise known as Court-Ordered Child Abuse. As a result, The Little Voice Project believes there is a great need to shine a light on this tragic situation and calls for an immediate reform of the Family Court System. Clear-cut laws need to supersede the well-intentioned guidelines that are currently dictating judges’ decisions. The solution is simple. If a court or community agency acknowledges that a parent has perpetrated emotional, physical, or sexual abuse to either the other parent or the child, the court cannot award physical or legal custody to the abusive parent. The abusive parent cannot have unsupervised visitation with the child. Additionally, an appropriate family member must be identified to act as guardian if neither parent is deemed safe for the child. The Little Voice Project seeks to establish a protected space for abused children in the legal system. Too often political focus is on fiscal issues related to things like health care and housing and the injustice being done to children is overlooked, their cries going unheard by the very people elected to protect them. Thus, The Little Voice Project uses cutting edge technology, creativity, and social media to give abused children a voice and advocate on behalf of those who cannot fight for their own rights. Our organization raises public and professional awareness with the intention of amassing a digital community of supporters focused on eradicating Court-Ordered Child Abuse in America.

LLSA is every Latina/o law student’s connection to the larger Latina/o legal community. We strive to be the leading center for student resources, dialogue and action. LLSA is committed to encouraging student-led encuentros, conferences, and other community-strengthening gatherings. We aspire to inform, excite and empower generations of Latina/o law students so that they may be responsive to the legal needs of the communities that surround them.
