The Briar Street Theater is located in Chicago, Illinois and is home to the long-running Blue Man Group. It originally was the carriage house for the Marshall Field and Company horses and was then bought by Walter Topel and reconstructed into the theatre it is today. Since this reconstruction, the theater has put on many different shows and performances yet the Blue Man Group remains the most recognized.HistoryBuilt in 1901, this space was used as the stables where the horses used and owned by Marshall Field's would stay. These horses were used for the companies delivery service. As time passed, the lot became useless and in 1970, Walt Topel, founder of Topel and Associated, Ltd., bought the building from Werner Kennelly Moving and Storage Company and redesigned it into a sound stage and office where his film production company would thrive from. From 1977 to 1985, this building also housed Walt Topel's post-production company, Cinetronics, Ltd. This business was later renamed Swell and moved downtown in 1984. In 1985, the theater was reopened and became a part of the culture of Chicago. Today, the Topel family is still the owner of the venue and the original second floor actually hangs from the ceiling by large turnbuckles that can still be seen.
The interior and décor is muted with reclaimed and distressed wood in the main bar and elevated lounge. Art by Chicago graffiti artist, Mr. Brainwash, decorates the walls. A secret entry leads to a backroom with a private tasting room, a beautiful space created with 100 year-old box car doors. Whiskey Trust also features a garden and patio in the rear of the building with seating for more than 100 guests. Whiskey Trust is Boystown's only rock and roll venue, featuring live bands, burlesque, drag and comedy shows on the Stage. Check our events section for more information

Built in 1903 and lovingly restored in 1997, Chicago’s gorgeous Schubas Tavern would be mere eye-candy if the bookings didn’t match the vibe. Fortunately, they do. This venue is also an artist-favorite tour stop; an anticipated oasis on the endless road of rock ’n’ roll.
The Throne Room, founded by Mark and Kamila, is more than just a music and performance venue showcasing Chicago’s premier local talent. It’s a labor of love born out of a long-standing family tradition, a love of music, and a classic boy-meets-girl love story. It all began in a rehearsal space in the Galewood neighborhood of Chicago, where Mark, a powerhouse drummer was auditioning to join a new band. Kamila was the tough-chick bass player in search of a good fit to flesh out her band’s rhythm section. Both had been in several groups throughout the years, but this was no run-of-the-mill audition. Oh, no – this musical encounter would become the moment that changed both of their lives forever. Some say it was Kamila’s melodic bass lines that enchanted Mark, others say it was simply her beauty. Either way, the two began dating a few weeks later, fell in love, and in the fall of 2009, they were married. And, as the old adage goes, the rest is history. Mark is the son of Frank and Georgeann, owners of Renaldi’s Pizza (2827 N. Broadway). The family has been a pillar of the Lake View community since the legendary pizza joint opened its doors in 1973. Renaldi’s commitment to providing an honestand valued establishment for all to enjoy speaks volumes about the integrity you’ll experience at The Throne Room. The Throne Room is brought to you by the next generation of the Renaldi’s family who strive to continue the family’s tradition of excellence, community stewardship, and quality entertainment. The Throne Room offers a diverse lineup, top-quality sound, professional and friendly staff and an intimatesetting. Stop by on one of our live music nights, Friday and Saturdays, Starting May 30, 2014, and be a part of this ongoing story.

I started hula hooping 2 years ago, and I saw how much it has changed my life for the better, I have more confidence when I dance, it keeps my mood positive. And it still makes me very excited when I learn new hula hoop tricks! So I wanted to include others in the hula hoop circle of fun! What I love most about teaching hula hoop classes is seeing people have fun and laughing when the hula hoop falls down! I also love to see people improve in their hula hoop skills. I especially love it when people come up to me and tell me how hula hooping has made a positive impact in their lives!
