For over 20 years, RoseAngelis has occupied the cozy environs of a former bakery on a quiet stretch of Wrightwood Avenue in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Charming and quaint, this hidden gem features a series of intimate rooms with rustic décor reminiscent of being a guest in someone's home. Patrons also enjoy the lovely outdoor area Zagat called the "best patio imaginable." Numerous awards include the city's best Italian and most romantic restaurant. Attorney turned chef Larry Rosenblum demonstrates his culinary acumen with large portions of eclectic homemade pastas, salads, seafood and chicken dishes, as well as a great variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Fresh casual at the best and highest quality level is our promise to ourselves and our customers. We also want to be in control of all fresh ingredients and the production of all the food. We decided from start that we would produce everything from scratch.

In 1984, Pastas Café restaurant opened its first location in New York and soon spread throughout the North Shore of Long Island. In 1988, we expanded our operation to the West Coast under the name of Pasta Primavera. Although we are no longer affiliated with Pasta Primavera, we are responsible for their entire concept, including the creation of their menu. The following year Pasta Villa of Pleasanton was opened with our new ideas and recipes designed to fit Americans’ palate for Italian cuisine. Shortly after, Pastas Café was opened on Main Street, Pleasanton, with again, successful results. In 1994, Pastas Café of San Ramon was established as a neighborhood family restaurant. We then ventured into new territory with authentic northern Italian recipes and opened our first restaurant in Danville under the name of Basil Leaf Café. That idea also expanded to Basil Leaf Panaterria in Livermore & since 1998 Basil Leaf Café in Chicago.
