A complex of buildings in the heart of New York City, the Morgan Library & Museum began as the private library of financier Pierpont Morgan, one of the preeminent collectors and cultural benefactors in the United States. Today it is a museum, independent research library, music venue, architectural landmark, and historic site. A century after its founding, the Morgan maintains a unique position in the cultural life of New York City and is considered one of its greatest treasures. With the 2006 reopening of its newly renovated campus, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, and the 2010 refurbishment of the original library, the Morgan reaffirmed its role as an important repository for the history, art, and literature of Western civilization from 4000 B.C. to the twenty-first century.

Students in Comparative Literature come from over twenty-five countries and are native speakers of as many languages. They bring a range of cultural and intellectual interests and have given the program in Comparative Literature at the Graduate Center an international character second to none that mirrors New York City in all its depth and complexity. While the majority of students tend to emphasize modernism in their coursework and dissertations, a significant number pursue studies in other periods, especially in Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic literatures, as well as in the literatures of the Americas. In recent years our students have accepted teaching positions at Barnard, Williams, Yale, Hamilton, Mount Holyoke, Vanderbilt, Harvard, UCLA, Penn State, Rutgers, The University of Massachusetts, and at a number of CUNY colleges. They have also found positions in Italy, Germany, and Turkey. Gallery SHCHUKIN is an international arts organization with a representative office in Moscow and gallery exhibition spaces in Paris and New York. Founded in 1987, the gallery specializes in modern and contemporary art and is dedicated to discovering and cultivating cutting edge contemporary artists. One of the first organizations to bring contemporary Russian art to international audiences, Gallery SHCHUKIN has exhibited established and emerging artists, including David Datuna, Sasha Semenov, Andrey Shchelokov, Aladdin Garunov, Vladimir Migachev, Natalia Zaloznaya, Igor Tishin, and many others. The gallery frequently collaborates with prominent art institutions in Russia, Asia, Europe, and Scandinavia including a group show of contemporary work at the Tampere Art Museum in Finland; “Russian Collection Presents...” at the United Nations in Geneva; “Russian Mind,” a group show of Perestroika era artists in Graz, Austria; “Matrix XX Century,” a collection of digital work commissioned for the Japanese International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation in Tokyo; as well as projects with The State Tretyakov Gallery and The State Museum of the East in Moscow. In October 2013, Gallery SHCHUKIN expanded to Europe, opening an exhibition space on Avenue Matignon in Paris, France, with a solo exhibition of installations by David Datuna, “Power And Beauty.” The newest location of Gallery SHCHUKIN, a two-level, 3,500-square-foot space at 524 W 19th Street in New York, opened in spring 2014. Through exhibitions, publications, collaborations, and its non-profit component, “National Foundation for Art Collection,” Gallery SHCHUKIN continues to support and promote established gallery artists and introduce emerging talent. The founder of Gallery SHCHUKIN, collector Nikolay Shchukin, is a former psychotherapist specializing in psychoanalysis. Presently, Mr. Shchukin works on the universal concept of psychology and sociology of art.

The NYSID Master of Professional Studies (MPS-S) in Sustainable Interior Environments is a one-year post-professional program focused on specialized knowledge, thinking, and skills, structured to prepare design professionals to assume leadership roles in developing and maintaining sustainable interior spaces that will positively impact the world. The curriculum provides rigorous professional education in the area of sustainable design focused on the interior environment, exposing students to a range of topics, research methods, integrated design development methodologies, and sustainable project management practices. Course work addresses the history and theory of sustainability, principles of sustainable materials, natural and artificial lighting and control systems, and integrated environmental systems design and indoor air quality as well as green textiles, furnishings, and decorative elements. The program includes two major studios designed to integrate acquired knowledge and research while exploring both residential and nonresidential environments, and prepares graduates to achieve LEED AP Accreditation. The 30-credit MPS-S requires completion in one year and is structured to accommodate working professionals by offering all classes in the evening and on weekends. The program consists of two 15-week semesters composed of lecture, seminar, and studio formats followed by an 8-week summer session. All of the 30 credits required for the MPS degree must be taken at NYSID. The Film-Makers’ Cooperative is the largest archive and distributor of independent and avant-garde films in the world. Created by artists in 1961, as the distribution branch of the New American Cinema Group, the Coop has more than 5,000 films, videotapes and DVDs in its collection. The New American Cinema Group, Inc. / Film-Makers’ Cooperative (FMC) has a new home at 475 Park Avenue South, on the northeast corner of 32nd Street. Our fantastic sixth-floor site offers a 20-seat theater, The Charles S. Cohen Screening Room. Our offices and archives are approximately 2000 square feet. We have signed a five-year lease with the real estate developer Charles S. Cohen that calls for the organization to pay a symbolic rent of $1 a year.
