The Seaport Boston Hotel and the neighboring Seaport World Trade Center is located on the Boston waterfront at 1 Seaport Lane, Boston, MA 02210 on Commonwealth Pier, in the South Boston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The South Boston Waterfront is also known unofficially at the Boston Seaport District.Constructed in 1901 as a maritime cargo handling facility, Commonwealth Pier was the largest pier building in the world at the time. Able to accommodate the largest vessels that entered the port of Boston, this facility was an integral part of city's maritime industry, handling both freight and passenger traffic, with rail and truck transportation access right on the pier. Commonwealth Pier subsequently underwent two major renovations and continued to host ships through the 1970s, when changes in cargo transport made the Pier obsolete. In the early 1980s, the Massachusetts Port Authority designated Fidelity Investments and The Drew Company as developers of Commonwealth Pier, which they transformed into the World Trade Center Boston in 1986.The Seaport Boston Hotel opened in 1998. Renovations were completed in 2009 by the New York architects BBG-BBGM. The hotel contains Hypoallergenic rooms, and Forbes Traveler named Seaport one of "America's Greenest Hotels" in 2008. Seaport received the Boston Green Business Award from the City of Boston In 2007, Seaport Hotel received the Good Earthkeeping Award by the Massachusetts Lodging Association.
The World Trade Center station is a transportation station in Boston, Massachusetts, on the MBTA's bus rapid transit (BRT) Silver Line. The station is located on Congress Street at C Street/World Trade Center Avenue on the South Boston Waterfront. It is between Boston's World Trade Center and Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC), and near Commonwealth Pier and a seasonal ferry to Provincetown, Massachusetts.AccessibilityThe station is fully accessible and offers connections among Silver Line routes.Layout and designThe station was designed by G plus G Architects. Its mezzanine level is intended to represent an underwater environment, with blue lighting, an undulating ceiling and sandy, mica-flecked stone tiles. Saint Augustine Chapel and Cemetery is a historic church on Dorchester Street between West Sixth and Tudor Streets in the South Boston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1818-19, it is the oldest Roman Catholic church building in Massachusetts; the cemetery, established 1818 is also the state's oldest Catholic cemetery. The Gothic Revival chapel was originally built as a crypt for the remains of Father François Matignon, the first Catholic priest to come to Boston from France.The chapel and cemetery were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The chapel is still in active, holding 4pm Mass on Saturdays.
Southie Trees is an environmental organization committed to maintain, protect, and increase tree cover in South Boston. Founded by Tech Networks of Boston, and now run by the South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation, Southie Trees seeks to educate community members on the benefits that trees provide for the neighborhood. Through education and outreach initiatives, planting and mulching projects, and tree surveys, our organization is able to create permanence for the program and develop an environmental future for South Boston. By preserving and maintaining the limited tree cover in South Boston, Southie Trees can ensure that everyone has access to all of the benefits of trees. He graduated from Westfield State University in May of 2015 with bachelor degrees in both Finance and Economics.
