If we had to guess, we'd say you already know how to search for properties using services like Zillow and Realtor.com, but what you may not know is how to pick an agent you'd actually want to work with. In all fairness, most agents are great at their jobs, but just like any other service professional, you still want to have a good vibe with someone you could potentially be spending a lot of time with. We don't really like talking about ourselves, but in the spirit of awkward self-promotion, we figured you deserved some real insight into who we are, not just as professionals, but as people. We are Laura Seaman and Tiffany Zachry, a two-person team who enjoyed geeking out about real estate and Philadelphia so much that they made a career of it. Laura is a Realtor® and Tiffany does most of the behind-the-scenes work, which is why she's been affectionately dubbed the Block Captain (get it?). Anyway, we recently became a team in the matrimonial sense (thanks Supreme Court!), too, so...yeah...that's pretty cool. What you really need to know, though, is why you should work with Laura as your real estate agent. Simply put, she has a combination of education, experience and enthusiasm for the city of Philadelphia (warts and all) that is rarely seen. She's lived here for over 20 years, has a Master of City Planning from Penn and worked for the Redevelopment Authority for four years, so her knowledge base is vast and she has a level of insight about Philadelphia and the surrounding areas that you're not likely to find anywhere else. And I'm not just saying that because I'm financially dependent on her. Hmmm...what else do you need to know? Oh, her spirit animal is a pigeon--you see flying rats, she sees streetwise little spitfires who can have a busted wing and trash stuck to their foot and still strut around like the queen of England. Also, she WILL show you pictures of pugs. Forcefully, if necessary. She can wax poetic on everything from the latest revival of Fiddler on the Roof to the reason the plumbing aisle of Home Depot smells extra weird on Saturday mornings. And she'll probably volunteer me to help you change the locks at your new place. Are we exceedingly helpful or just desperately seeking approval? Absolutely. Still not convinced? It's low key, entertaining (seriously, you should see some of the things we've seen) and completely devoid of pressure or obligation (we really hate feeling pressured and/or obligated, so we assume you do, too).
