The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower also called Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Thérèse Church is a historic Roman Catholic church, located in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The church is distinguished as one of seventy-three in the United States (and one of only four in the state of Texas) bearing the papal designation of "minor basilica." Despite its religious importance it is not the cathedral of the local diocese; that distinction belongs to San Fernando Cathedral.HistoryDedicated to Ste. Thérèse de Lisieux of the Child Jesus, and bearing her nickname, "The Little Flower" of Jesus, the cornerstone of her basilica "was solemnly blessed and laid" on October 15, 1929. Its remarkable edifice and accompanying works of religious art are uniquely uncharacteristic of its relatively recent construction.The Basilica is a treasury of art, master craftsmanship and relics. The Discalced Carmelite Friars began serving the surrounding parish community in San Antonio in the late 1920s. The Basilica was thus constructed during the Great Depression (1929–1931) and today stands as a monument to the great faith of devotees of St. Thérèse from throughout the United States and world.Perhaps the most treasured work of art at the basilica is a painting of Ste. Thérèse created by the saint's own natural blood sister, Céline (Sr. Geneviève of the Holy Face). This very painting was used in the canonization ceremony for Ste. Thérèse in Rome in 1927. It is 7ft wide by 10ft tall, and is located in the baptistery in the vestibule of the church. This painting was part of the procession at the saint's canonization.

Thomas Jefferson High School is a public high school in San Antonio, Texas and is one of ten high schools in the San Antonio Independent School District. Completed in 1932 at a cost of $1,250,000, it was the third high school built in the city.

Gen. Alfred Valenzuela; 1996 Nobel Prize Chemist Robert Floyd Curl; the late philanthropist and founder of American Income Life Insurance Company Bernard Rapoport; and many others.

2014 will be the 7th Annual "On and Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour." Organized by Bihl Haus Arts, this self-guided tour covers the seven neighborhoods bordering Fredericksburg Road between Vance Jackson and Culebra. It features two full days of open studios that offer visitors the rare opportunity to interact with local artists in their work spaces. Artists' work is also showcased in participating galleries and businesses in the community.

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans. Our Women's Ministry Mission is to develop a more intimate relationship with God, to stand in the gap for our family, church, church and community. It is for us to set a Godly example to the generation of young women that are rising.

San Antonio OASIS opened in 1991 as a chapter of the OASIS Institute, a national non-profit organization dedicated to its mission of enriching the lives of adults age 50 and over by offering challenging programs in the areas of health, the arts and humanities, technology and volunteer service opportunities. OASIS creates opportunities for older adults to continue their personal growth and provide meaningful service to their communities.

Jefferson Outreach is a non-profit in San Antonio, Texas supported entirely by donations from churches, individuals, foundations and grants. We have a small paid staff and many volunteers, who are church and community neighbors, dedicated to the betterment of seniors quality of life through services that help them remain at home, rather than having to relocate to an institution.

The Network for Young Artists (NYA) presents its official Fiesta event: The Deco District Arts and Music Festival. This free, world class celebration brings together local residents and tourists to the Historic Deco District. This outdoor boutique music and arts festival offers dozens of performances by local and national musicians of all ages, street vendors, diverse food/drink menu and community spirit for all to enjoy. One stage is dedicated to NYA and youth centric organizations highlighting local youth talent who are certain to WOW you.
