Often referred to as “the heart of the city,” the Mission District covers the area east of Twin Peaks to the James Lick Freeway, and south of Market Street to Cesar Chavez Street. Because of its geographical configuration that insulates it from the city’s fog and wind that affects so many other areas of town, the district’s sunny climate makes it a pleasant place in which to live. In recent years, the Mission has become a destination spot for specialty restaurants and shops, as well as having a burgeoning club scene. Originally built in 1902 at 17th and Treat Streets, the station relocated to 1240 Valencia Street in 1950. A new Mission Station, with triple the square footage of the old station, a community room and special secure holding areas, opened in 1994.
MISSION STATEMENT Under the direction and management of the seven-member citizen Building Inspection Commission, to oversee the effective, efficient, fair and safe enforcement of the City and County of San Francisco 's Building, Housing, Plumbing, Electrical, and Mechanical Codes, along with the Disability Access Regulations.
The first location was built in the 1890's on Kentucky Street. We've been on 20th Street since 1951. Mission The San Francisco Public Library system is dedicated to free and equal access to information, knowledge, independent learning and the joys of reading for our diverse community. Description Potrero Branch Library was the 22nd branch established in the San Francisco Public Library system and has a history that dates back to the 1890s. One of the earliest branch locations was at 1126 Kentucky Street. That facility was closed in 1902 and replaced by a "library station." In 1909-1910 the station was located at 19th Street and Kentucky. In September 1918, the station was moved to a room in the old Daniel Webster School. In 1919 the station location was on Connecticut Street near 20th Street, and later that year it was moved to 448 Connecticut Street. The present-day branch building, which was opened to the public on June 25, 1951, was designed by the architectural firm of Pollack & Pope. The cost of the building was $97,168 and of the land, $3,260. The newly renovated branch opened on March 6, 2010. The building was designed by the City and County of San Francisco, Department of Public Works, Bureau of Architecture’s Library Design Studio and cost approximately $5.2 million. The new branch houses an expanded second floor with City views, new accessible restrooms, a program room with after-hours access for community meetings, new elevator and stairs, a variety of seating choices, more computers and wireless access to the internet, a designated Teen Area, and maximum use of natural light including a new central atrium and skylight.

This is my personal page to describe this fantastic & affordable workout I found right here in the Mission. It is all-ages boxing class for beginners and intermediate men or women or teens 14 & up. This two-hour class that includes cardiovascular training, flexibility, high and low abdominal training, stretching and basic boxing moves: proper punching, movement, balance, & blocking. Included is everything you need to get a balanced workout. http://youtu.be/2Exek8TLKxI The class is instructed by health and fitness professionals from the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, with a focus on proper form, health and safety. You will learn about boxing basics, agility, and technique. Don't worry about fighting or being hit; that will come later. I took this class to add variety to my marathon training, and I know it contributed to completing my first marathon at Lake Tahoe-at 6000 feet above sea level.
