Andrea Rosen Gallery was inaugurated in January, 1990, with a seminal exhibition of work by Félix González-Torres. Kent Fine Art, Inc. was founded in 1985 by Douglas Walla. Its first location was on the corner of Madison Avenue and 57th Street, in the historic Fuller Building. Along with representing contemporary artists such as Dennis Adams, Llyn Foulkes, Paul Laffoley, Antoni Muntadas, Irving Petlin, and Dorothea Tanning, the original Kent Fine Art presented a number of outstanding historical shows, including exhibitions of the work of Medardo Rosso, Francis Picabia, and John Heartfield. In total, Kent would publish over forty scholarly books and organize over two hundred exhibitions worldwide.
