What We Do We provide prospective law school students of the University of Houston – Downtown knowledge and information regarding different law schools and programs, the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC), and the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). In the past, the PLA has held LSAT group study sessions, attend official LSAC events, and provide networking and career internship opportunities.
Advisor Responsibilities – What You Can Expect from Us You can expect me as your advisor to: • Understand and effectively communicate the curriculum, graduation requirements, and university and college policies and procedures. • Encourage and guide students as they define and develop realistic goals. • Encourage and support students as they gain the skills to develop clear and attainable educational plans. • Provide students with information about the available resources and services on campus. • Accurately document students’ progress toward meeting their academic goals during advising session. • Be accessible for meeting with advisees during set advising hours. • Assist students in assuming responsibility and accountability for their educational plans and achievements. • Be prompt in response to email/phone messages. • Maintain confidentiality. Advisee Responsibilities – What We Expect of You As an advisee, you have clear responsibilities in the advising partnership in order to be successful: • Make regular contacts with advisor during each semester. • Come prepared to each appointment with questions or material for discussion. • Be an active learner by participating fully in the advising experience. • Ask questions if you do not understand an issue or have a specific concern. • Keep a personal record of your progress toward meeting your goals. • Organize official documents in a way that enables you to access them when needed. • Gather all relevant decision-making information. • Clarify personal values and goals and provide advisor with accurate information regarding your interests and abilities. • Become knowledgeable about college programs, policies, and procedures. • Accept responsibility for decisions.
Omega Delta Phi is a multicultural service/social fraternity that aims at graduating its members while giving back to the community. The Fraternity has established itself on over 50 campuses and is predominantly centered in Texas and the Southwest. However, the Fraternity has been experiencing tremendous growth in the Midwest the last 10 years. Although founded mainly by Latinos, the Fraternity has traditionally always been open to men of different backgrounds, as demonstrated through its "One culture, any race" philosophy.
The purpose of Safe Zone to provide an open, safe, inclusive space and community that is committed to challenging homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and heterosexism. We recognize that this work requires a continued process of understanding and addressing all forms of oppression. We are committed to this process both in our work and in the structure of Safe Zone itself. Safe Zone promotes education about all genders and sexualities, as well as space for self-exploration of these identities. The UHD Gatorettes Dance Team is a new sports club in The University of Houston- Downtown's Sports and Fitness Department. University of Houston-Downtown Sports & Fitness serves as a vital and integral part of student life on campus. The mission of Sports & Fitness is to provide the university community with programs that offer vigorous, fun-filled, health-promoting, physical activity conducive to wellness and personal development. Sports & Fitness supports the mission of UHD by seeking to create a climate that motivates members to embrace a healthy life-style, which can enhance their academic studies, build friendships and social skills, develop leadership qualities, and cultivate a sense of ownership and belonging to the university. UHD students are second to none and deserve a first rate program.

The 5th Houston Palestinian Festival Presented by PACC, The Palestinian American Cultural Center, will take place on March 28th & 29th. BG Group Place (formally MainPlace) is a 630 ft (192 m) tall skyscraper under construction in Downtown Houston, Texas. It is expected to be completed in 2010 and will have 46 floors. It has been pre-certified Silver LEED. When it is completed, BG Group Place, will become the 15th tallest building in Houston and will feature a skygarden on the 39th floor.[1] It is the tallest building built in Houston in 23 years, after the Heritage Plaza was completed in 1987. According to the building's website, MainPlace will be ready for occupancy by February 2011.[2] The naming was done when BG Group Plc became an anchor tenant and leased 164,000sq ft of space.[3] A Houston METRORail train stop will be located just outside of the lobby and main entrance.

First City Tower, a work place for over 2,500 people, is a 49 story parallelogram set diagonally on the block bound by Fannin, McKinney, San Jacinto and Lamar Streets (Block 135, S.S.B.B., Houston, Texas).
We are an open Toastmasters club. Everyone is welcome to visit any meeting to see what we're all about! We meet every Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in downtown Houston in the Heritage Plaza building, at 1111 Bagby Street, Houston, TX 77002 (between Dallas Street and Lamar Street). Which floor and which room in Heritage Plaza can change from week to week, but if you leave a posting, we'll let you know where the meetings are. We'll also try to post our latest meeting details here. There is metered parking around the building, and a visitor parking garage (the Heritage Clay Street Garage) across the street at 1200 Bagby. Parking is $1.50 for each 20 minute period. Sorry, we do not validate parking costs.
