Optimistically-named lounge bar on Folsom with more than a touch of San Francisco colour in its clientele. The plush up-market lounge area is lit in a deep red glow and has fine leather couches to recline on that suggest a certain patrician class rather then posiness. Yet the clientele cannot be boxed in either way: a happy mix of suits, gays, straights, clubbers, trendies and down home regulars, who come for the reasonably-priced beers and fine cocktails because service is friendly and spot on. Staff will carry large drinks to your tables and add a little extra shot of rum in your Caiparinha if you tip them well. Happy hour is really happy three hours (5-8pm) and the crowd are as friendly and laid back as the staff.

I started DJ'ing as a kid with two boom boxes, cassette mixtapes, a deep love for music, and an imaginary microphone. Turntablism and DJ'ing as an art form came into the picture after completing a term in the Air Force, when I expanded my love for music and worked my way through college DJ'ing and doing voiceover. That's where I earned a B.A. in Film & Audio Production, and I then went on to become a certified Audio Recording Engineer. Over the past 12+ years, DJ'ing has brought me to many amazing locations & events in California, Hawaii, NYC and abroad, like opening up for the B-52's, to block parties spanning an entire city block of San Francisco. I'm based out of San Francisco & Hawaii, and I fly wherever the wind will take me. I have a vast knowledge of music and a knack for reading crowds to decide what to play next. As an open format DJ, I can incorporate many different styles of music into my clients' dance parties. If I'm throwing a party of my own it often involves 6 main styles of music: Funk, Soul, Latin, Old School Hip Hop, EDM (Electronic), and Reggae. My top 3 favorite music festivals in the US are Symbiosis, Reggae on the River, and Burning Man. But whatever the type of music is that I'm playing, I believe people are energy, and I use music to bring an inner peace to people and an overall feeling of alive-ness… My sets usually include pre-recorded artists, but I often include a live component as well where I might create live remixes, mashups, and even original creations. When it comes to private events like club rentals, weddings, corporate parties etc, I love each and every one of my clients, and thrive on making meaningful connections with them. You won't hear me on the mic too often, but when its helpful I can MC to help keep the flow feeling organic. The rest of the time I let the music do the talking. I believe every event is unique and use my adaptability to create parties that represent the mood, feeling and natural vibration of the people & places involved.

Campus is a network of shared houses: we currently have 15 houses in the Bay Area, shared community cabins in North Lake Tahoe and Napa, and plans to expand the Bay Area network to twenty locations over the coming summer months.
For many residents in SoMa, the quest to participate actively in the civic, political and social issues of San Francisco is often a struggle because of social inequality including major factors like language barrier, the complexity of government and City departments structure whom makes decision that impacts their community, access to information and not knowing they have rights. By providing political education, community organizing, leadership development and community meetings around critical issues such as land use, budget cuts, better economic opportunities, SOMCAN aims to empower the immigrant and low-income youth and families to change existing conditions and to be in the forefront in addressing the issues that affect them.
Professionals & Advocates Leadership Society (PALS) are a circle of professional friends who, during their downtime, generate awareness of important causes in the community, organize fundraisers to support community aims, and build networks through the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a volunteer group and strongly support the Curry Senior Center, a non-profit organization located at 333 Turk St. SF. In 1972, Francis J. Curry, MD founded the North of Market Health Clinic, a primary health care center for low-income seniors living in the Tenderloin. A director of the San Francisco Department of Public Health and native San Franciscan who grew up in this neighborhood, Dr. Curry brought together Health Department colleagues to address a grave problem – the growing isolation and premature deaths of Tenderloin seniors. In the heart of San Francisco, Curry Senior Center has been a leader and a lifeline to seniors for more than 40 years. Right in their own neighborhood, seniors can easily access a wide range of essential services through Curry, from health care to housing and everything in between: It is comprehensive care in a single setting. Dr. Curry and colleagues had found that low-income, frail seniors were terrified to leave their apartments or residential hotel rooms to visit a doctor or even to buy groceries. As a result, isolated seniors were dying unattended from illnesses – some brought on by malnutrition – that were often curable if patients were seen and treated early. Realizing that medical care was only one element contributing to good health and quality of life, Dr. Curry created a partnership to provide social services for seniors as well. As programs were added, the building that housed the agency headquartered at 333 Turk Street became too small to accommodate increasing numbers of clients and staff. Some programs were relocated to rented sites nearby. Then, when the building next door at 315 Turk Street became available in 1999, the Board of Directors decided to buy and renovate it, and to consolidate programs into one location. Throughout our history, Dr. Curry’s mission statement has been our driving force. So in the spring of 2003, after 30 years as North of Market Senior Services, we renamed our agency the Curry Senior Center, in honor of Dr. Curry and his abiding wisdom and compassion.
[ABC] Arts Building Consortium, established by THEOFFCENTER, ALTERNATIVA and KUNST-STOFF in late 2012, is an artist-driven and artist-oriented platform. It acts as an instigator and incubator with the imperative to cultivate, support, improve, import and export experimental contemporary dance, performance and interdisciplinary arts via creative, educational and community-building endeavors. In residence at KUNST-STOFF arts, at the crossroads of the Theater District, Civic Center and Central Market Arts District, [ABC] embodies this unique intersection of perspectives and aesthetics, representing and nurturing Bay Area legacies of boundary-crossing sensibilities, artistic experimentation, creative performance tactics and accessible, alternative education.
