Kismet is a duo of dreamers doing all the things their favorite forerunners imbued in them. Sonia, for instance, worked at a Recycling Center where she learned to utilize materials donated from the community to use toward creative play, engaging whole families or one child at a time. More impressively, Sonia has worked at Art City in City Museum for 11 years. She celebrated her 11th year July 2 of 2014. Tom, on the other hand, was inspired by a shop in Omaha, NE Called the Antiquarium that sold records, books and art and provided a safe place for locals to hang out, drink coffee, read books, play chess, and philosophize. Later on in life, inspired by said cultural center, Tom moved to Durango, Colorado where he opened his own record store / art gallery / venue which lasted 4 years. A large part of Tom’s music collection comes from this endeavor. Following Durango, Tom moved to Denver where he worked at one of the finest record stores in the country for 2 more years.
We are both a retail storefront and a web based business featuring a carefully curated selection of Vintage Modern Furniture, Artwork, Accessories, & Interesting Artifacts. Each piece is carefully selected because of their quality and uniqueness. Each piece is restored to their best vintage condition, doing our best not to sacrifice its original look. We also have added 4 more dealers to our shop so that we can continue to bring a great selection of pieces to our customers as part of our Vintage Modern Collective. Because not all of the dealers items are available on our web site for sale we encourage our customers to follow us on Facebook to see all of the new additions to our shop daily. We can answer additional inquiries about items you see on our page including getting shipping quotes for any item available.

Our Vision: The St. Louis Community Mediation Program imagines a society in which parties address their conflicts non-violently through mediated dialogue. SLCMP’s process provides two professionally-trained volunteer mediators and a safe location to facilitate dialogue between parties in conflict. MediationSTL provides Community Mediation in the following areas: -Citizen complaints against police officers. Mediation offers parties the opportunity to resolve issues themselves and avoid intercession from courts or other parties. -Referrals from police officers or city officials. Mediation is a preventative measure or last resort to avoid arrests or fines. -Neighborhood Mediation. Mediation assists parties to resolve issues surrounding parking, trash, disrespect, noise, minor mischief, and others. -Landlord Tenant Mediation. -Town Hall and Large Group Mediation. Mediation in a town hall format facilitates problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution for larger groups. -Senior citizens and their families. Mediation is a method for families to discuss and resolve the difficult decisions associated with aging. SLCMP is a service of the Mennonite Peace Center, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that has supported mediation and other community building projects in St. Louis since 1999. Mennonite peace centers throughout the world promote principles of nonviolent social change by fostering peaceful dialogue among all persons, regardless of faith tradition.

My First 5k! is a concept born from my first 5k. When I ran my first 5k I trained for nearly six months to accomplish my goal. I went from sedentary to running a full 5k which I though was an unattainable goal for myself. The feeling of pride that I had when I crossed the finish line is indescribable and my hope with My First 5k! is that we can help others achieve the same feeling in a safe and encouraging environment, running their first 5k with a team of others who are feeling the exact same pride and struggle that they are, to make it through their very first race. Racers will be able to sign up as a first 5ker or a motivational runner. First 5kers don’t always travel their first 5k journey alone and we want them to be able to experience it with whoever their motivational figure is. First 5kers will be encouraged to wear yellow so everyone can see them, cheer them on along the way, motivate them throughout the race and give them the support they need to finish their first race strong. Not only will spectators and motivators be able to spot the first 5kers in their yellow shirts, first 5kers will be able to spot each other! I look forward to meeting everyone on race morning! -Heather
