The first home was in the belfry of the Walker Community Church in South Minneapolis. In 1984, the primary transmitter was moved from the roof of the Seward Co-op to the top of the Foshay Tower in downtown Minneapolis and upgraded to 125 watts. The studios moved from the church two years later, when it moved to the second floor of a Butler Drug store on Lake Street. In 1991, studios were built especially for Fresh Air Radio at Cedar-Riverside near the University of Minnesota, where it remains today. The 170-watt West St. Paul translator station went up in 1994.

The H. Alden Smith House is a historic Richardsonian Romanesque house just west of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It was designed in 1887 by noted local architect William Channing Whitney. Its owner was a wealthy businessman, a partner in Smith and Wyman Sash and Door Company. It was once part of a group of a greater mansion district on Harmon Place, but the area is now primarily home to medium-density apartments, cafes, retail stores, and Minneapolis Community and Technical College. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.H. Alden Smith lived in the home until 1906, when he died of a heart attack. His wife sold the home to a mortuary called Davies Mortuary, which resided in the building until the 1970s. It was then used as a restaurant for about two years, then as an office building, a counseling clinic, and a filming location for the movie Drop Dead Fred. In 1993 the Minneapolis Community College Foundation purchased the building for $350,000 and raised funds to renovate the structure. It is now called the Wells Family College Center and is used by Minneapolis Community and Technical College for miscellaneous purposes.
The Swinford Townhouses and Apartments are a development of townhouses and apartments in the Loring Park neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both buildings are located in an area that surrounded the once-elegant Hawthorne Park. The townhomes were built first, in 1886 by Hodgson & Sons in the Second Empire style, using red brick, stone, and terra cotta. The apartments were designed in 1897 by locally prominent architect Harry Wild Jones, who preferred an eclectic style. The building is four stories tall, built of red brick and stone, and features a corner bay. They were built by Anthony Kelly, a nineteenth-century businessman who pioneered the wholesale grocery business in Minneapolis. Both the townhouses and the apartments were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The apartments are now incorporated in the Laurel Village development.
