In 1977, the Colonel's granddaughter, Helen Belo Morrison, agreed to sell the property to the Dallas Bar Association. She had been born in the house in 1902 and felt the Bar's plan to restore the home as the Dallas Legal Education Center was in accordance with family principles and feelings. The Dallas Bar Association connected the historic home and the chapel with an expansive, glass-roofed atrium.
In 2003, The Dallas Bar Association victoriously concluded its capital campaign which resulted in the addition of the exquisite Pavilion. Once again, the past was linked to the present and future through innovative design and distinctive architecture.
Tutta’s [pronounced too-tahs] was started out of the idea that two extraordinary people could toss aside all normal conventions and create something bold and wonderful to share with the world. That idea was to combine smoked meat pizzas, great live music, and a vibrant fun scene for all to enjoy.
Jeremy and Amanda Scott met when he was the lead singer of the Dallas-based band Red Tape Poetry. Still very active members in the music scene and self-proclaimed “foodies”, the Scotts wanted to create a place for their talented comrades to showcase their music and discover new talents the region has to offer, while serving the masses some amazing food. Sadly that idea came to a halt when the location they had been working on for well over a year had fallen through. That’s when they decided to scale things down and start building the brand first by bringing you fresh daily made dough, sauces, and smoked meats in a gourmet pizza food truck that has a kickin’ sound system and spirited people serving you. “The goal is to plan for the future. We still intend to bring you a great live music venue and a home-base to come and share meals with your family and friends in the near future. We truly hope that you will be a part of that journey with us” says Jeremy Scott. The idea that you can create joy within someone by simply providing them the best quality options with the freshest ingredients possible has always been a passion of the Scotts. “We spent many late nights perfecting our recipes and recruiting our friends and family as taste testers, so we feel very confident that you're going to see the Tutta's difference at first bite” says Amanda Scott. We keep our recipes simple, use bold ingredients and combinations of flavors that are guaranteed to make your mouth tingle.

Mabuhay, mahal, kumain is the motto of owners Chonnie Richey and Czarina Hounsel at Zen Bistro & Dessert Bar—Tagalog for “live, love, eat.” It’s an appropriate mantra for a bakery shaped by the sisters’ Filipino heritage with flavors collected from across Asia and comforting, homey treats such as cake balls. The latter have been raved about on the Cooking Channel's Food Crafters and in D Magazine. Each day, the kitchen rolls them from fresh-baked cake, frosting, and add-ins such as dark-chocolate cookie dough and fruit to create more than 10 classic and seasonal flavors including Filipino-inspired creations such as a purple ube yam variety. The spheres are then dipped in melted chocolate and decorated with more chocolate, colored crystal sugar, and sprinkles. At the dessert bar, customers can also reach for piles of stuffed cookies, gourmet cupcakes, and cakesicles—a fluffier, chewier version of icicles.
Asian flavors come into the forefront in a bistro menu of traditional Filipino dishes, Asian tapas, and bubble teas brimming with black tapioca pearls. The savory side of Zen’s mini-empire has attracted nearly as much attention as the sweets for dishes as bracingly authentic as the spicy beef caldereta—a tomato-based stew of potatoes, beef, and liver—and as American-influenced as the egg-topped Tocino burger, which made CraveDfw’s Comprehensive Dallas Burger Guide.
