Saddle Ranch Chop House is a destination restaurant where guests stay long after their plates have been cleared to enjoy a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience with friends and family. Our concept is “Rock Meets Western”, which comes to life in every aspect of the construction, décor and operation of these unique restaurants. The rustic, ranch-style buildings are constructed of wood and stone, and decorated with western props and memorabilia, merging the feel of an Aspen ski lodge with the style of an old Western saloon, complete with faux balconies and saloon girls. Every Saddle Ranch Chop House has a large outdoor patio with stone campfire pits where guests can roast their own s’mores or enjoy a glass of wine by the fire. Inside each Saddle Ranch is a large, oval-shaped bar in the center of the dining room and, of course, our signature mechanical bull providing endless entertainment to diners. Serving up home-style cooking and down-home hospitality, our staff will make your group feel like you are dining at a close friend’s table. The first Saddle Ranch Chop House opened its doors on the Sunset Strip in September 1999, to rave reviews, tons of press, and hoards of people lining up to enjoy the delicious Saddle Ranch cuisine and ride the only mechanical bull in Los Angeles. From the second it opened, the Saddle Ranch concept was a huge success and a favorite of Hollywood. Television shows, books and magazines began developing story lines around the restaurant almost immediately. Saddle Ranch and its infamous mechanical bull have been featured on countless shows including "Sex and the City," "Desperate Housewives," "American Idol," "Six Feet Under," "VH1’s Rock of Love" and numerous more. Saddle Ranch had become a brand known nationwide, even before its second location opened in 2003 at Universal CityWalk, Hollywood. In 2008, Saddle Ranch opened an additional location in the Westgate City Center in Glendale, Arizona. Saddle Ranch's newest location opened in 2013 at the newly redesigned Triangle shopping center in Costa Mesa, California. Saddle Ranch is coming soon to the Outlets at Orange in Orange, California and new locations are in development for future years.
Our most photogenic location, Mels Sunset, is housed in one of the last remaining “Googie” style buildings in Southern California. Located on the famous Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, the building was previously home to Ben Franks, the iconic coffee shop that was a famous hangout for rockers in the 60s and 70s after gigs, and the headquarters for teens during the Sunset Strip Riots. It is rumored the band Buffalo Springfield was formed in the parking lot, and The Monkees were cast based on call asking for “spirited Ben Franks types.” One might have seen luminaries such as Frank Zappa, The Rolling Stones, Andy Warhol, and Bob Dylan stopping in for late night eats. Opened in 1997, Mels Sunset continues to be an ideal place for celebrity spotting and people watching. A favorite for locals and tourists alike, this location boasts an outdoor patio with a full view of the Strip and a large, airy dining room inside where you can play your favorite tunes on the tableside jukeboxes. Centrally located between Hollywood and Beverly Hills, it’s an excellent place to kick off your LA adventure with the city’s best breakfast and one of our fresh juicebar drinks. Enjoy a classic burger or a crisp salad before visiting one of the famous Sunset Strip attractions, such as The Roxy, The Whiskey A Go Go, or shopping along The Sunset Plaza. This location is the only Mels open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is the premier after hours spot on the Sunset Strip.
