The National Archives at St. Louis is home to the largest Federal records collection outside of NARA's Washington, DC, and College Park, Maryland, locations. The St. Louis facilities hold more than a 100 million civilian and military personnel records dating back to the 19th century. These records tell the story of American men and women who served this country, some of whom rose to national and international prominence as civilian employees or members of the military. Official Military Personnel Files are accessioned into the National Archives, and become archival, 62 years after the service member's separation from the military. This is a rolling date; hence, the current year, 2015, minus 62 years is 1953. Records with a discharge date of 1953 or prior are archival and are open to the public. Records with a discharge date of 1953 or after are non-archival and are maintained under the Federal Records Center program. Non-archival records are subject to access restrictions.
The Center at Spanish Lake offers youth ages 12 to 19 a variety of activities and services at no cost including drop-in hours, life skills workshops, counseling services, educational support, employment preparation, youth specialist case management, and legal assistance. County Youth Programs’ Doors to Success is also offered at the site for youth ages 17-23. To enroll in any of these programs, contact the Center directly
