El Aeropuerto Internacional Louis Armstrong, conocido antiguamente como Moisant Field, localizado en la ciudad de Kenner, es el principal aeropuerto comercial e internacional de la ciudad de Nueva Orleans, al sudeste de Luisiana. A 1.2 metros sobre el nivel del mar, es el segundo aeropuerto internacional más bajo del mundo, siguiendo al Aeropuerto Internacional Schiphol, en los Países Bajos, el cual se sitúa a 3 metros bajo el nivel del mar. Antes del huracán Katrina, Louis Armstrong servía a casi diez millones de pasajeros al año, casi todos ellos sin trasbordo. MSY tiene uno de los mejores récords de seguridad aérea entre los aeropuertos estadounidenses. Ningún vuelo desde o hacia el Louis Armstrong ha presentado accidentes fatales desde hace diecisiete años.El Aeropuerto Internacional de Nueva Orleans era una terminal aérea de importancia para los viajes a Latinoamérica desde Estados Unidos. El aeropuerto fue renombrado en 2001 en honor de Louis Armstrong, un famoso músico de jazz de Nueva Orleans. La oficina de pronósticos del Servicio Meteorológico Nacional de EE. UU. para la zona se trasladó al barrio de Slidell y ahora utiliza los códigos no aeroportuarios LIX y KLIX.
