At Divine Duties, we raise money to allow able and willing volunteers to pursue their dreams of serving God and His people in countries all over the world, as well as in prisons in the United States, via mission work and ministry work. We’re a Christian-based nonprofit organization, headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, that raises funds to help people help others. There is a huge need for such fundraising. It is very expensive to go on mission trips. A typical overseas mission trip requires the volunteer to come up with out-of-pocket expenses of at least $2000 to $3000. Even traveling to a prison across the United States can cost more than many people can afford. At Divine Duties, we actively raise and provide the necessary funding, so that volunteers who have the time, dedication, and ability to perform these mission and ministry activities can do so. We raise funds in multiple ways including establishing kick-starter campaigns, fundraising campaigns, and selling Divine Duties themed merchandise. We also work with local churches to raise awareness, spread the word about our activities, and to identify any volunteers who are in need of assistance. Our two primary focuses are mission trips and prison ministry. The Secular Student Alliance at UNLV is a student organization with the goal of creating a safe, welcoming space for atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, individuals questioning their religious beliefs, and those religious people sympathetic to the separation of church and state. We have weekly discussion meetings during the fall and spring semesters on Tuesday nights at 7pm in room 205 of the UNLV Student Union. We also do community service events and organize speakers to give informative and/or entertaining presentations to the public. We are open to all members of the UNLV community that are also interested in building a sense of community among secular students.

The Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute is an international literary center dedicated to promoting discourse on today‘s most pressing issues. UNLV President Emerita Carol C. Harter leads the institute, which provides an environment where creative writers and scholars can fight against entrenched perspectives, whatever their political or cultural source. BMI works to exert national, and ultimately global, influence by supporting a host of mutually reinforcing literary endeavors. These activities include readings, lectures, and panel discussions by public intellectuals whose work embodies BMI‘s mission; nationally ranked graduate programs in creative writing for writers of exceptional promise; a residential fellowship program that supports the creation of internationally focused writing for an educated lay audience; UNLV faculty fellowships for scholars pursuing humanistic research; a residential safe haven for writers of conscience from countries in which such freedoms are curtailed or endangered; the publication of two award-winning literary journals; and the translation into English of major literary works from traditionally under-translated languages. More information about these initiatives can be found in the programs and publications area of our web site. BMI also actively seeks partnerships and co-sponsorship opportunities with other centers and programs at UNLV and in the community at large, thereby multiplying the number of resources available to and audiences touched by its activities. For more information on these relationships, see the partners section of our web site.

Inspired by a belief that improving our public education in Southern Nevada was too big a task for a school district to undertake alone, The Public Education Foundation was established in 1991 as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit Nevada corporation. Our solutions to the challenges of educating a growing and diverse Southern Nevada population are impacting schools and the school district at multiple levels from grassroots classroom participation to systemic reform. Our initiatives and programs empower teachers and students, reduce bureaucracy, ensure accountability, leverage resources, and deliver results. We are working collaboratively with educators to ensure that our students not only succeed in the classroom but succeed in life. Why? Because young minds matter...to us...to you...and to our future.
