A Secret Beneath Union Square. Located just a few blocks from Union Square and situated within a beautiful brick basement, beneath the hustle and bustle, lays Hawthorn: a state-of-the-art lounge bar and nightlife venue. In the late 1800's this area of San Francisco once housed lustful brothels and drug-stores, today however, the space has been completely re-imagined for an elite bar and nightlife experience. Featuring two intimate rooms, the first accented by Austrian drapes and deep purple ceiling swathes with plenty of lounge seating and room to dance if the evening takes you there, while the other room is a more hidden and private experience that boasts classic décor inspired by 1930’s Hollywood. For early evening Happy Hour cocktail guests, Hawthorn offers a full craft cocktail menu as well as signature favorites, lovingly prepared by some of the cities finest mixologists. As the night evolves, indulge your senses with the help of a world-class VOID sound-system, custom made for the space and designed in the UK. Whether you arrive in the evening, or late into the night, Hawthorn strives to provide a comfortable and playful atmosphere uplifting the spirit with cocktails, art, music and dance. The House of Shields has been in existence since 1908. Following an extensive restoration over the summer and fall of 2010, H.O.S. is again open for business. In keeping with tradition, there is no clock on premises, nor is there a T.V. We look forward to serving you. We are located directly across the street from the Palace Hotel on New Montgomery. Catering is available for all private events either for the upstairs mezzanine or for full bar buyouts. Please email us at thehouseofshields.com for all inquires.
★ NOW OPEN ★ The intimate 2,000 square foot space offers a comfortable atmosphere with warm woods and brushed iron meeting shades of subtle blues and grays for a calming vibe imbued by soft, natural lighting from the floor to ceiling windows that flank the front of the venue. The renovation includes new wood floors, a hand crafted wooden bar, new skylight, wood wall accents and large screen TVs to showcase sports and important events. A centralized art installation rotating local artists will give Southside a hip, stylish vibe with a nod to San Francisco’s lively art community. An expansive selection of fine spirits will include rare, unique finds and all the necessities for spirit-driven San Franciscans in a friendly atmosphere. Great cocktails made with fresh ingredients in new and classic cocktails will be crafted without pretense. House-made syrups such as roasted blueberry, flamed orange peels and other flourishes provide innovative twists on a seasonally rotating selection. “Southside Spirit House will appeal to those who enjoy a great cocktail and a comfortable atmosphere where they can unwind after the workday,” said owner Colin O’Malley. “Our goal is to make our guests feel comfortable enough to order a drink without an MBA in mixology, while creating a vibe that makes them want to stay and linger.” ★ Media Contact: Lauren Eastman, Issima PR [email protected] ★ All other inquiries, reservations, private events etc contact [email protected]

In the spring of 2013, the team took over Louie’s Bar and Grill – a Financial District favorite. A former whalers’ bar with roots dating back to 1930 Louie’s maintains its old school charm while combining enough class for a client lunch. Louie’s is a slightly more sophisticated version of its sister bar, the Tempest, though still maintains its dive bar DNA with exposed brick walls, long-standing regulars and unassuming vibe. The bar is also open until 2 AM, making it a late night favorite after much of the surrounding Financial District has closed up shop. Louie’s is also known for its menu. Former Michael Mina vet Stephen Crawford and the Pour Guys were determined to make the burger one of the very best in the city. Aptly named The Burger – topped with bacon bourbon BBQ jam, potato sticks, aioli and argula – it does not disappoint. Louie’s is the kind of bar that will become your go-to happy hour, lunch or post-work haunt.
