Braise is a time honored cooking method rooted in technique. This purity in cooking is showcased in our reverence for local ingredients. All the food is hand crafted; we make our own bread, we butcher our own meats and craft our own cocktails. The food is seasonal, honest and fresh. The menu, written daily, is guided by the idea that the proximity of the farm is directly correlated to the quality of its food. We truly are a farmer and community supported restaurant; our mission is to reconnect people with their food. We are passionate about giving our guests more than just a meal, but an experience when they dine with us.
Goodkind is a restaurant and corner tavern tucked away in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood, near the shores of Lake Michigan. Taking a modern approach to Old-World dining, we specialize in rotisserie meats, local produce, and house-made cocktails. We opened June 2014 in an old, beloved residential building that had previously housed businesses as varied as a pizza parlor, blacksmith shop and of course, a typical Milwaukee neighborhood tap. Goodkind is the new epoch in a long, rich history. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We’ve reinvented our inherited space to feel comfortable, timeless, and energizing. Our casual approach focuses on the experience above all else. We pride ourselves on taking off the white linens and making dinner fun and approachable without sacrificing quality or elegance. At Goodkind, we don’t just focus on a delicate pairing of food and drink, we strive to create a truly symbiotic relationship between our kitchen and bar. Serving a full kitchen menu until 1 a.m. solidifies our intention of being a bar and a restaurant. Through our close friendships with artisanal producers and providers, we have access to rare releases and unique seasonal offerings. Deliveries arrive daily, and the ingredients are as likely to appear on your plate as they are in your glass. Our aim is to continually surprise you. And ourselves.
