We are San Antonio's Community Foundation. We exist to make San Antonio a better place to live. We do this by: maintaining, investing and distributing funds from permanent charitable endowments; connecting donors to the causes they are passionate about; creating and leading initiatives for the benefit of San Antonio.
We play a leadership role in evaluating, developing, funding, and implementing health initiatives through our childhood obesity prevention program, youth mental health council, and San Antonio Health Literacy Initiatives. in decreasing duplication of health services in the community and promote coordinated efforts for the best possible community health outcome.
What We Do Transplants for Children (TFC) is the only agency of its kind and located in San Antonio, Texas. TFC empowers families to MASTER LIFELONG CHALLENGES of pediatric transplantation. TFC is dedicated to assisting young organ and bone marrow transplant recipients and their families in effectively coping with the emotional, financial, and social challenges that arise before, during, and after transplantation. For a child and his or her family, a transplant can bring the joyous realization of new life. The transplant process, however, can also present overwhelming emotional and financial challenges which most families are simply not prepared to face. TFC exists to help families master those challenges. Our organization was established to “be there” when families need somewhere to turn for help.
Welcome to LEE'S-WORLD! This organization is founded by Aaron Lee Cardenas, a 22 year old UTSA college student, who studies Criminal Law and has a passion for helping those in need. After encountering many struggles in life, he knew others had it worse. Instead of pushing the topic aside, he came up with a crafty plan. This plan is known as "LEE'S-WORLD". So what is LEE'S-WORLD? Well, it is still in the early stages of development, however this organization aims to focus on providing Charity, Fun, and Food as a sense of world-peace. During the process, low priced food will be served and after generating enough profit, it will be used to help out the less fortunate in many ways. In addition, he plans on creating a fun atmosphere for all, which involves activities such as basketball and anything to keep kids out of trouble. This is one out of several innovative ideas that Aaron believes will impact the community significantly. For ideas, interest, or If you would like to get updated with the progress, feel free to do so. VOICES’ work centers around three types of activity: Research We convene stakeholders, experts in various arenas of interest, to identify issues to be addressed to improve outcomes for children. These may be public policies or programmatic practices. Advocacy We organize those stakeholders to develop recommendations that we advance to policy makers. In the programmatic area, we serve as a catalyst for collaboration, working for more effective service delivery. Messaging We work to frame clear and consistent messages that convey the wisdom of investing early in human capital development. Research supports that the pre-school years, birth to about age five, offer the richest opportunity to lay a positive foundation for a lifetime of fulfillment.
Alamo Kiwanis is a service organization in association with Kiwanis International. Founded in 1947, we enjoy premier status in the community. Our two primary fundraising events, Fiesta Noche del Rio, performed at the Arneson River Theater each summer since 1957 and The Western & Heritage Art Show, held since 1963 at various venues in early January have allowed the club to donate over 2.5 million dollars to local children’s charities. Over the years we have grown to be proud of our heritage and strong willed in our resolve to live up to our mission statement, ”The Alamo Kiwanis Club exists for the sole purpose of raising funds for children in need.”
