Alibis is a laid back bar in the heart of St Paul Square. The house where Alibis currently resides was built in 1876. The little old lady that built it lived there happily until Sunset Station was moved to its curent location in 1903. The depot was constructed to bring troops to Ft Sam Houston for training. Along with the troops, so came the oldest profession known to man. As the brick hotels sprung up all around, it was clear that this was no place for a little old lady to live. The 26 year old peer and beam house was passed on to the owner's daughter. A blue light was constructed out front, and the old housecame to be known as The Blue Light Room. It was the only place in the area where a soldier could find some ice cold suds to quench his thirst, and perhaps some entertainment for the evening. So here we sit more than one hundred year later with the same mission: To serve you up your favorite cocktail or ice cold beer, along with a comfortably venue to "meet new people". Bar America started off as Café America in 1942, founded by my great-grandfather Joe Ramirez. In 1957, my great-grandfather made the decision to change Café America into Bar America. Since its inception, Bar America has undergone four major changes. Our current progress includes, a large patio area in the back with full bar, a 22-tap craft beer draft system. We are currently undergoing inspections for our kitchen, which should be finished by the end of the year! We have over 50 craft beers, as well as an additional 30 domestic or import cans, bottles or drafts to choose from. Construction began on it in 1922 and was completed in 1924, at a cost of $1.5 million.It is a 5.5-story building in the style of a classic revival temple, and serves as a headquarters and meeting place for Scottish Rite Masonry in San Antonio, and for the South Texas Region. The building also frequently serves as an event hall for performing arts and various cultural events.The building features notable architectural elements including: gabled front portico, Corinthian columns, a terracotta frieze, and elaborately sculpted bronze front doors featuring George Washington and Sam Houston which were created by Pompeo Coppini. Coppini was a thirty-second degree member of the San Antonio Consistory. In 1936, sculptor Coppini was one of the honored guests who delivered an address at the November 15 dedication and installation of the doors.The cathedral was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The Transportation Advisory Board is comprised of 11 members appointed by the Mayor and each City Council member for two-year terms representing the following categories: three (3) consumers; one (1) member large company taxicab industry; one (1) member co-op taxicab industry; one (1) member small business taxicab industry; one (1) member of tour, charter or shuttle service; one (1) member of horse carriage, limousine or livery service; one (1) member of hotel/motel association; one (1) member of Airport Advisory Commission; and one (1) member of Convention and Visitors Commission. The Board makes recommendations to the Director of the San Antonio Police Department, in reference to City Ordinances, Rules, and Regulations on the licensing and regulatory review process for transportation services licensed by the City. These services include taxicabs, limousines, tour/charter services, pedicabs, and horse carriages. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month (excluding April and December) at 5:00 PM in the Municipal Plaza Building “B” Room, 114 W. Commerce. Meeting duration is usually one to two hours. Public hearings are held in addition to regular meetings. There is only one appointee per district. Where 2 are listed one is serving in a holdover capacity and a new category is being advertised.
