He performs median sternotomy, thoracotomy, minimally invasive thoracoscopic resection and robotic procedures. Each procedure is tailored to the patient and their disease pathology to provide the best chance for success and the quickest recovery with the best outcome. Dr. Fonseca’s practice is limited to thoracic surgery. While the majority of his surgeries are for diseases of the lung, he also sees esophageal and mediastinal disease frequently, including benign and malignant tumors. In consultations with multiple physicians and considering multiple treatment options for chest diseases, we develop a plan with the patient’s input on how best to treat a particular disease for that particular patient.
