The National Elk Refuge is located in the U.S. state of Wyoming and was created in 1912 to protect habitat and provide sanctuary for one of the largest elk (also known as the wapiti) herd on Earth. The refuge borders the town of Jackson, Wyoming on the northeast while Bridger-Teton National Forest is to the east and Grand Teton National Park borders the refuge to the north. It is home to an average of 7,500 elk each winter. The refuge is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of the Interior.Elk migrate from as far away as southern Yellowstone National Park and historically migrated south of the present location of the refuge into southwestern Wyoming during the fall, wintering on grassy plains that were usually snowfree most of the winter. During the spring, the herd would follow the retreating snows back into the Yellowstone National Park region. The original size of the elk herd has been estimated to have been in excess of 25,000. The expansion of the town of Jackson blocked off the migration route by the end of the 19th century and the elk herd was severely reduced in size due to the hostile climate and lack of food supply. A movement to protect and enlarge the remaining herd was commenced in the early 1900s, resulting in the creation of the refuge. The elk herd is kept alive during the hard winters of Jackson Hole through feeding and culling of the herd, a lottery based hunting permit program, which is highly regulated. The elk have antlers which are shed each year and the Boy Scouts of America have been collecting the antlers under permit since the 1950s and selling them at auction under agreement that 75% of the proceeds are returned to the refuge to feed, research and manage the herd to assure its survival. Ten to eleven thousand pounds (4,500 to 5,000 kg) of antlers are auctioned each year. The increase in value has resulted in a commensurate rise in antler theft.

Van Vleck House and Barn
Distance: 0.6 mi Competitive Analysis
135 E Broadway
Jackson, WY 83001

The Van Vleck House was built in Jackson, Wyoming in 1910-1011. The log house and barn are the only remaining residential structures in the vicinity of the Town Square. The Van Vleck House was built by Roy Van Vleck, operator of the first "mercantile", or general store, in Jackson. Roy and his new wife, Genevieve Lawton Van Vleck lived in the cabin from 1911 to 1960. The Van Vleck house was notable at the time for possessing its own well, which served much of the surrounding population. In 1920 Genevieve became one of the members of the first all-female town council in the United States, serving until 1923. Roy Van Vleck was the local land commissioner and served on the hospital and school boards. Van Vleck was also a leader of the opposition to the creation and expansion of Grand Teton National Park in the 1930s.The house is a one story log cabin. The approximately 36ft by 60ft L-shaped house was moved 30ft after a 1988 fire and set on a new foundation. It retains its orientation and context. The interior did not survive the fire and has been reconstructed. The barn, which is a few years newer than the house, stands nearby. The barn includes a central brick chimney and is used for storage. The barn was the location for the final fight scene featuring Clint Eastwood in the 1980 movie Every Which Way But Loose. In 1980 the house became a restaurant. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, and is the only authentic historical structure in the central area of Jackson.Barn removalIn August 2009 work began to dismantle the barn for removal and reconstruction at a new site south of Jackson. The removal of the barn was approved by the town of Jackson, but the town requested that demolition be stopped to allow a review when it was revealed that the town's list of historic properties did not include the barn, despite its inclusion on the National Register. The owners of the site did not have immediate plans for the property and stated that they wished to "clean up the block."

The Huff Memorial Library is a historic library located at 320 South King Street in Jackson, Wyoming. The single-story log library was built by the Works Progress Administration between 1938 and 1940. The library replaced the city's first library, which had been established in St. John's House in 1915 but had become too small for the city by the 1930s. Jackson's Lions Club, along with several other community groups, began to work to bring a county library to the city. The WPA approved the city's proposal for a library in 1938, and it was built over the next two years. The library was named after Dr. Charles Huff, the city's only physician for over twenty years. The county library relocated to a new building in 1997, and the old library became a county office building. The Huff Memorial Library should not be confused with the Teton County Library which is located on 125 Virginian Lane, Jackson Wyoming. The library was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 5, 2003.

From Dr. Parker- I started JH Aesthetics because I wanted to shake things up a bit in the world of aesthetic and cosmetic medical procedures here in Jackson. I want to provide many of my friends and acquaintances with these amazing new procedures. But I didn't want to do it like everyone else...in a stuffy & scary doctors' office....so I partnered with Body & Soul Salon to do this in a more comfortable setting. Of course it's still professional, clean & sterile, but in a non-clinical & relaxed environment. All procedures are competitively priced and come with exceptional personalized service. My personal philosophy regarding non-surgical aesthetic & cosmetic procedures is to have you looking like you, but just better, younger and more refreshed. In my opinion, aesthetic procedures are best when done in a subtle fashion. My goal with every procedure is for you to still look like you. I want others to recognize you look better, but I don't want them to know exactly why;) Of course every person is a little different in what they would like to achieve with the different procedures we offer. That's why I believe in a little one on one time at the beginning of each session so I can get to know exactly what you like, dislike and your precise end goal. In addition, I can show you what exactly what is possible so both of our expectations are in sync. I believe in my work and service enough to say that if you are not happy with your procedures, you simple don't pay for them. I'm proud to say thus far in my career, I have not refunded one person for being unhappy.... but the guarantee still stands. Get exactly what you want, or you can have a complete refund, no questions asked...ever. With the advent of these aesthetic procedures over the last 10 years, you don't have to be unhappy with your looks anymore. Whether its a physical feature on your face or body that bothers you, or the unfortunate fact that we all eventually age (me too;)....being unhappy with your looks is just soooooo.....1990s. But don't worry, we left that decade awhile ago. Welcome to 2013 and your happiness:) Ciao, Dr. Buck
