The Knight Parade is an annual celebration of Tampa civic pride. Hosted by the Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago, the Knight Parade has been held in Ybor City each year since 1974. The 2016 Krewe of Sant’ Yago Knight Parade presented by MOR will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at 7 p.m. in historic Ybor City. The parade's rich heritage attracts families, and adults young and old alike to join in the revelry. A true Tampa Bay tradition, the 2016 Knight Parade will draw more than 120,000 spectators from throughout the United States. It's sometimes referred to as the "Sant´Yago Illuminated Knight Parade" and mistakenly called the "Night Parade" because it's held at night. It is always held on a Saturday evening in February, typically a few of weeks after the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion. The Knight Parade, as well as other fundraising events, helps raise funds for the Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago Education Foundation, which has provided more than $2 million in scholarships for local students. The Tampa Bay area will officially kick off their Hispanic heritage celebrations on Saturday, September 12th, 2015. The "Celebra Tu Herencia" Festival in partnership with the Ybor Saturday Market and Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. will offer our community a full day of music, folkloric dances, cooking competitions, arts & crafts sales, plus the selection of the Hispanic Cultural Ambassador and more. Mayor Bob Buckhorn, who will present the official proclamation, will kick off this long standing Tampa tradition that opens Hispanic heritage month with the Official Tampa Bay Hispanic Heritage Kick Off event. Mayor Buckhorn is confirmed to make the presentation at 2pm on Saturday, September 12th at Centennial Park in Ybor City during the "Celebra Tu Herencia" Festival. The main stage will be filled with colorful flags from more than 21 Spanish speaking countries, exciting performances and both traditional and lively music to make you dance and celebrate! The Ybor Saturday Market will continue to host its traditional Arroz con Pollo cooking contest. Cash prizes, handcrafted plaques and judging rights for 2016 will be awarded to the winners! The recipe contest event promises a fierce competition, as in the past, with great flavors which will fill the park with the delicious aromas of our "sabor latino."
