Youth Learning Center (YLC), a 501(c)3 organization, concentrates its learning enhancement activities on STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Learning opportunities are provided through the Summer Discovery Academy as well as during our after school program, known as Resources for Learning Programs, throughout the school year. In addition to the programs’ affordability, financial aid and full scholarships are available to students in both programs. Founded in 2003 by Willie L. Kent Sr. and Ray and Judy DeLuca Ford, YLC’s mission is to positively impact the lives of youth by offering academic enhancement opportunities designed to inspire a commitment to life-long learning and leadership from the classroom to the community.

Ashleyliane Dance Company (ADC) is a professional performance organization under the artistic direction of Ashley L. Tate. ADC specializes in blending modern, jazz, and contemporary training with urban street dance. The Company offers outreach activities that include choreography, performances, master class instruction, workshops, and private lessons. ADC company dancers are all high school and college graduates or currently pursuing their degree in higher education. Since its inception in 2007, ADC has performed at a plethora of major events and private engagements, including but not limited to: the Muny, Fair St. Louis, First Night, Loop in Motion, Dancing in the Street, Casino Queen, Four Seasons Hotel and The Pageant. ADC has been featured on Fox 2 News,"Best of the STL" on STL TV, Show Me St. Louis, and the Nine Network and in Alive Magazine and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The company has produced a number of dance concerts at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA), Ivory Theatre, and Missouri History Museum, and the Edison Theatre. ADC has also served as entertainment for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, acting as crowd enthusiasts for 7 years. They have also been invited to perform at the Dance Chicago Festival, the American College Dance Association Covention, the University of Illinois-Chicago, the Pulse On Tour Dance Convention in Chicago and Las Vegas, and both Peridance Capezio Center and TADA! Theater in New York City. Ashleyliane Dance Company is committed to creating a comfortable atmosphere for adult dancers to continue learning and growing as artists and for young dancers to find their niche. The Company brings together dancers from all over the city, in turn creating a cohesive dance community.

Adventures In Medicine & Science, (AIMS), is a youth community outreach program that provides health education and prevention information to students throughout the school year. With a combination of hands-on opportunities and auditorium presentations, students get a unique look at the human body. The program offers a prevention component that provides valuable information to students regarding health risks and how to avoid medical traumas. In addition, we offer summer workshops for middle and high school ages.
Intellectual humility is an intellectual virtue, a character trait that allows the intellectually humble person to think and reason well. It is plausibly related to open-mindedness, a sense of one's own fallibility, and a healthy recognition of one's intellectual debts to others. If intellectual humility marks a mean between extremes, then related vices (on the one side) would be intellectual arrogance, closed-mindedness, and overconfidence in one's own opinions and intellectual powers, and (on the other side) undue timidity in one's intellectual life, or even intellectual cowardice. The project will focus on a variety of philosophical and theological issues relevant to the topic of intellectual humility, as informed by current research in the empirical sciences, including: virtue epistemology; regulative epistemology; peer disagreement; intellectual humility, intellectual autonomy and deference to authority; religious pluralism; divine hiddenness; intellectual humility and theological method; biases, heuristics, dual-process theories and evolution; intersubjectivity and mind reading. The Saint Louis University effort complements the activities and research occurring under Templeton's Science of Intellectual Humility project by encouraging philosophers and theologians to integrate empirical research on questions surrounding intellectual humility into their own investigations.
