UMMC is the academic medical center of the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and the only academic health-science center in the state. The Medical Center is located in Jackson, the state capital, about 165 miles from the Ole Miss campus in Oxford. UMMC encompasses six health-science schools: medicine, nursing, dentistry, health related professions, graduate studies and pharmacy. (The School of Pharmacy is headquartered on the Oxford campus.) Four hospitals serve the population of Mississippi and beyond: University Hospital, Conerly Critical Care Hospital, Batson Children's Hospital and Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants. UMMC is actively expanding its major research efforts in cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and psychological disorders with the goals of better understanding, preventing, diagnosing and curing the diseases affecting humanity. UMMC is a major economic generator for Mississippi. It employs 8,500 people, educates high-earning-potential students, is a hub of biomedical research and provides both basic and specialized health care services. The Medical Center generates $216 million in total tax revenues each year, about $70 million more than it receives in state dollars to train Mississippi's future health-care professionals. ------------ This Facebook page is maintained by the UMMC Division of Public Affairs. Our Quest program helps people with brain and spinal cord injuries return to work, school or community life and our thriving adaptive sports program helps return people to an active lifestyle.
For over 60 years, The University of Mississippi School of Nursing has been providing the nursing community with excellent, well-prepared nurses. The first school in the state to offer the bachelor's degree in nursing, the School of Nursing is located on the state's only academic health science campus. The School of Nursing offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral nursing programs. UMMC is comprised of four specialized hospitals, including the state's only children's hospital; a women's and infant's hospital; an adult hospital; and a critical care hospital. These hospitals serve every population in Mississippi, and because these hospitals are located on the same campus as the School of Nursing, students participate in truly unique clinical learning experiences. UMMC also has the state's only Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 3 neonatal intensive care nursery and organ transplant program, meaning that our students have the opportunity to obtain the experiences required in the field and population of their choice.

CACM strongly believes that the combined professional knowldege and skill of the multidisciplinary team approach results in a more complete understanding of case issues and the most effective child and family focused system response possible. Last year, CACM provided training to approximately 150 professionals, including social workers, law enforcement, physicians, prosecutors, and forensic interviewers. More importantly, by improving the skills of these 150 professionals working in the field of child abuse, CACM has had the potential to impact the lives of nearly 20,000 children. A children’s advocacy center is a child-focused, facility-based program in which representatives from many disciplines, including law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental and/or medical health, victim advocacy and child advocacy, work together to conduct interviews and make team decisions about investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases. In 2010, CACM member child advocacy centers provided direct services to 3,285 child abuse victims. A National Perspective: One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before the age of eighteen. The National Children's Alliance (NCA) and the Children's Advocacy Center programs are fundamentally changing the way America handles cases of child sexual abuse. NCA is the national accrediting body for over 700 Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) who in turn provide a community-based response for hope and healing to victims of severe child abuse. CACs are located in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi (CACM) is proud to be able to support CACs and other professionals working to put an end to child abuse in Mississippi.

Formerly known as BUFEM, we are aiming to promote languages and cultures at Belhaven University by offering progams unique to the needs of foreign students and US citizens who might want to learn from international culture as well. As the club grows, so will its outreach! Currently, we offer a writing workshop, discipleship program, and womens Bible study for international students. The writing workshop seeks writers of all talents and levels of experience to write articles. Content can include describing your life, what you eat, where/how you live, funny or memorable stories, etc. The purpose is to educate people in other countries to what life in America is like. They will read these articles and, hopefully, gain a better perception of what it means to be like the average American. The discipleship program is a primarily a student-led discussion group held on a bi-weekly basis. Attendees will open up to talk about ideas related to discipleship, missions, and secular thought as it relates to the world which we live in. The purpose is to plant the seeds for minds to effectively enter the world with knowledge of the Gospel. Third, we have a Bible study group for female international students who might know little, nothing, or have only had a connotation of the mean of the Gospel. This group is focused toward enlightening memers of the truth of the Gospel and being free from the world through Salvation.
