Pastry chef ELISABETH PRUEITT and her husband, renowned baker CHAD ROBERTSON, are the co-owners of Tartine Bakery and Bar Tartine in San Francisco. They both trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. Elisabeth and Chad traveled, trained, and cooked in France and upon their return, opened Bay Village Bakery in Point Reyes Station, California. Using a wood fired brick oven, they baked bread and created rustic, elegant pastries using many of the techniques they had learned abroad. Chad’s bread garnered the attention of Alain Ducasse, who wrote about the couple in his book, Harvesting Excellence. After 6 years of baking in the countryside, they relocated to San Francisco to open Tartine Bakery in 2002. Elisabeth was named Pastry Chef of the Year in San Francisco Magazine. Tartine Bakery is continually rated in the Zagat Survey as Best Bakery and Best Breakfast in San Francisco. Elisabeth and Chad were nominated for James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chefs in 2006 and 2007, and won the award in 2008. Their first book, ‘Tartine’, published by Chronicle Books, was chosen by Corby Kummer of the Atlantic Monthly in the New York Times list of selected top ten cookbooks of 2006. It was also nominated for a James Beard award for the photography of France Ruffenach. Tartine Bread, Chad’s second book, published by Chronicle Books is in current release: Fall 2010.

The Orbit Room Cafe is going on twenty years as a San Francisco cocktail destination. In the last few years it has evolved into a clubhouse for great conversation, a nice selection of esoteric wines both old and new world and modern renditions of classic cocktails made with organic ingredients from local farms and distillers. Chile Pies (sweet & savory) is a sister restaurant to Chile Pies (and ice cream), as well as Green Chile Kitchen, both located in the North Panhandle area of San Francisco. The pies offered at both Chile Pies locations are inspired by the butter-crust pies of the head baker's family. Green Chile Kitchen was opened in 2006. The owner spent many years in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The restaurant is inspired by red and green chile which is native to New Mexico, and the traditions and flavors from this region.

Chef Alexander Alioto made a name for himself at his first restaurant, Seven Hills, where he was co-owner and executive chef. Zagat named Seven Hills San Francisco’s best Italian restaurant in San Francisco while he ran the kitchen. At Plin, he is still offering his pasta favorites, yet Chef Alexander is taking more risks in the kitchen. Plin specializes in modern Italian cuisine, with an emphasis on seafood and handmade pasta dishes and extraordinary flavor pairings. A graduate of the California Culinary Academy, Alioto honed his craft during his extensive travels and stages across Europe where he worked for three years. He acquired his passion for seafood growing up with his restaurant family, which started selling crabs on Fisherman’s Wharf in 1925 and continues to run Alioto’s restaurant.
For over 25 years, Pauline's has been serving thin-crust pizzas with unsurpassed dimension in texture and flavor. Our dough is handmade every morning and allowed a long slow rise so the crust crisps to perfection. The light puff of the crust contrasts nicely with rich flavors of whole milk, olive oil and sea salt. Our pizzas are lightly sauced and layered with part-skim mozzarella. Pauline's is proud to offer many specialty toppings prepared on-site by our team of pizza specialists as well as tasty desserts such as boysenberry sorbet, butterscotch pudding and fraises du bois ice cream. Pauline's Pizza began producing its own organic produce because of the lack of local produce available at the time. We have lovingly chosen heirloom seeds and interesting combinations of greens, vegetables and herbs for our daily specials. We also make our own wines to pair with them. Don’t forget to try the small plates in our wine bar which are made almost exclusively from ingredients from our farm! Since 1985, Pauline's Pizza and Wine Bar has served thin-crust pizzas and delicious salads featuring homegrown produce from our organic gardens. We like to show it off with our chicken sausage, blended with white wine and herbs, a great addition to our rich garlic-fontina pizza.
