The Art of Movement plans to provide opportunistic dance education to all age groups in all surrounding communities. Instructing courses that will further careers, inspire young children, or even simply deliver an enthusiastic fulfilled workout regimen. Offering courses such as Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, and limited adult education. The Art of Movement has future goals of expanding, providing dance scholarships to students interested in furthering a dance education following grade school. The Houston Hepcats are the performance team for the Houston Swing Dance Society. They recreate vintage dances from the Swing Era through performances and national competitions, such as at Lindyfest and the International Lindy Hop Championships. The Hepcats perform around town, at public events, fairs, and nonprofit fundraising galas, reaching audiences locally and nationally. Recent events have included performances for SSQQ Dance Studio, Dance Houston, and the Bayou City Art Festival. The Hepcats also have performed for other nonprofit organizations such as the American Heart Association, the U.S.O., The Shriners of Arabia, the Texas A&M Aggie Moms, the Houston Choral Showcase, and school district fundraising efforts. The Hepcats are available for performances and lessons at any event, large or small. We've performed at hundreds of galas, fundraisers, dances, corporate events, schools and more. Performances: The Hepcats can provide spectacular team and individual performances to wow your guests, including authentic dances from the 1920s-1940s! Our performers can even stick around and encourage your group to get out on the dance floor. We have a lengthy repertoire of classic Swing routines such as California, The Big Apple, Tranky Doo, The Shim Sham, and the Dean Collins Shim Sham. We also have a number of original choreographies in addition to fantastic social dancing and aerials. Lessons: We can provide basic, clearly delivered swing dance instruction to your guests so everyone can get out on the dance floor that day! We can teach Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, or even Charleston. Additional offerings: The Hepcats can be brought in to other dance groups to assist with choreography for special occasions (quinceaneras, sweet 16s, wedding parties) or dance & musical theater.
