Thrifty's Henderson is dedicated to selling solely Thrifty Ice Cream by the scoop, as a sundae, and even as an ice cream sandwich (your choice of cookies) You can also take home hand packed pints & quarts just like the ol' days except it's not the 3 for 25 cent scoops any longer (ahem..giving away my age here). They also serve coffee and have a cold case full of sodas, water and milk. There are 36 flavors. They offer all the old school ones like Chocolate Malted Crunch, Coconut Pineapple to new flavors like Circus Animal Cookies (and yes they taste just like the Mothers Circus Animal cookies) and Green Tea (which is creamy and refreshing). The Chocolate Malted Crunch tasted like what you had from back in the day...possibly even better??? Maybe it's now that we appreciate that we can tell when quality and natural ingredients are used. They definitely don't skimp on all the fruits and nuts that are mixed in. The store is brightly lit, spacious and clean. There are a couple tables you can sit down at and have your ice cream treat. The service is Great! Friendly and Helpful Staff that will allow you to sample the flavors. Thrifty's ice cream is still the creamy goodness and just the right sweetness like back in the day when you used to walk to then Thrifty's Drug store and get a scoop for 25 cents. A scoop size was approx 1/2 cup it filled up the waffle cone from top to bottom. And yes it is still the same squarish round corner cylindrical scooper Thrifty used from when you were younger.
Rae's Restaurant opening on November 19, 1993, marked the beginning of a new era in fine family dining for the Green Valley neighborhood of Henderson, Nevada... And, for owner Joan Morris, it was the sincerest tribute a daughter could offer to the memory of her mother Rae, whose name proudly graces the restaurant marquis. Rae's legacy of love for people and devotion to helping others throughout her lifetime will long be remembered by those whose lives she touched. Reared in an orphanage until the age of fifteen, Rae challenged the world on her own with perseverance, determination and a pioneer spirit unheard of for her day. An astute businesswoman, Rae regarded work as a privilege and treated it as such. Her fierce independence, unswerving loyalty, and passionate will to succeed, enabled Rae to prosper and grow through the years within the hospitality industry endearing countless friends along the way. With a zest for living and a love for life, Rae truly enjoyed people, as they enjoyed her sparkling personality and ever gracious manner. Today, that legacy lives on at Rae's Restaurant, dedicated to fine family dining, with the friendliest of service, all for your good taste...because Rae, wouldn't have it any other way!
