Fairmont Plaza is a 17-storey, 79.55m skyscraper in downtown San Jose, California. When completed in 1988 as the Knight-Ridder Building, it was the tallest building in the city; it is currently the sixth. San Jose's first skyscraper, The 1909, seven-story, Garden City Bank & Trust Building, and the 1926, seven-story, American Trust Building were razed on the site to make way for the project.CBRE Global Investors purchased the building in 2012 about US$90 million.
Camp Captivate is a fun camp that fosters every attendee’s love of learning. Each week is based on a different history theme, which we bring alive by integrating history, science and art into a variety of projects and activities. Activities are varied and cover a wide range of exciting topics, including designing Roman mosaics, creating mummies, constructing castles, playing games of the historical period, digging for artifacts, making volcanoes erupt, and more. Campers will immerse themsleves in the world of Ancient Greece. Campers will: Perform and watch skits about some famous Greek myths. Create Pandora’s box Do a water displacement experiment, like Archimedes. Make 3D origami models of the plutonic solids. Do Geometry! Design a temple Make a sculpture Create a Medusa mask Compete in some early Olympic events Explore daily life Camp Week 2: June 24-28 Castles and Crowns Campers will enter the world of the Middle Ages. Campers will: Fire models of catapults and trebuchettes Train like a knight Investigate the bubonic plague and medieval medical practices Play medieval games Design a cathedral’s stained glass window Weave Design a coat of arms Play with Playmobil Castle models Make a jeweled crown with embossed “gold” Explore daily life Camp Week 4: July 15-19 Great Renaissance Minds In the Renaissance, there was an explosion of scientific and artistic advancements!
