Founded in 1973 as Nexus, a grassroots artists’ cooperative, Atlanta Contemporary has since become one of the southeast’s leading contemporary art centers. We play a vital role in Atlanta’s cultural landscape by presenting six–10 exhibitions within four seasonal cycles each year, featuring consequential artists from the local, national, and international art scenes. We are one of the few local institutions that commissions new works by artists, paying particular attention to artists of note who have not had a significant exhibition in the Southeast. We organize 50+ diverse educational offerings annually, unrivaled by other local organizations of our size. We are the only local organization to provide on-site subsidized studio space to working artists through our Studio Artist Program, removing cost as a barrier to the creative process.
Westside Cultural Arts & Events Center (WCAC) is a new iconic event facility in West Midtown located minutes from the heart of Midtown Atlanta, Turner Broadcasting, and Georgia Tech. We are not your Buckhead venue — our space is updated but true to its past, located in an old warehouse and still shows its original character with its cement floors and columns. Reminiscent of the industry past of West Midtown but modernized for today. Featuring our new gallery in residence, curated by Anthony Liggins, the Westside Cultural Arts Center is the new premiere fine art exhibition and event center in Atlanta.

We are located in the Westside creative district of Atlanta, Georgia. The gallery intentionally feels inviting, comfortable and open. We welcome customers as guests rather than clients, encouraging them to casually and unhurriedly explore, and to ask questions about the paintings and the artists. The works on display – colorful, approachable, and livable – mirror the gallery’s overall philosophy that original art should be neither distancing nor intimidating, but made available to inspire us all. After a visit to Gregg Irby Gallery – whether in person or online – the same welcoming ethos and personable environment that define the Gallery’s overall approach is offered. Each guest comes away feeling compelled to add something irresistibly fresh and original to their homes and lives.
In June 2013, Fay Gold reopened her art gallery in the new Westside Cultural Arts Center. She had been working as an art consultant since closing her previous gallery in 2009. Gold continues to be dedicated to enriching the Atlanta art scene.
