The Savoy at Curtis Park occupies the second floor of a landmark Victorian building. Built in 1887 and residing in the historic Curtis Park Neighborhood, the second floor was used as a private social club with a dance floor/social space, lobby, and lounge. Today, it remains as one of the few surviving spaces of its kind in the city of Denver. A short walk from Coors Field, adjacent to the RiNo Arts and Entertainment District, the building was renovated in 2001. In 2012 the second floor was restored to its original configuration and the maple and cherry wood floors were returned to their original luster. The room and the lounge retain their original pressed tin ceilings and both spaces are illuminated by the original nine foot windows that offer city and mountain views. The Dinner Detective is the largest, award-winning, interactive comedic murder mystery dinner show in the United States. We are now running public and private shows in cities across the country every week. Our immensely popular shows are set in the present day. Unlike other murder mystery dinner shows, here you will find no cheesy costumes, no recited campy dialogue and no hokey song and dance. Our performers are dressed just like everyone else, leaving all of the guests to suspect who is a part of the show and who is not. In many instances, guests are seated with the performers and don't even realize it until they die...the performers, that is! Our Detectives proceed to interrogate everyone and find clues as more people die. At the end of the night, prizes are awarded to the Top Sleuth who solves the crime.
The Oxford Hotel is a historic building in Denver, Colorado was designed by early Denver architect Frank Edbrooke, and built in 1891. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The Cruise Room is a hotel bar with historic art deco interior, that was operated as an illicit speakeasy.HistoryThe Oxford Hotel was built in 1891.In the 1950s, the Oxford Hotel was considered a flophouse. In the 1980s a new owner improved the hotel.The hotel restaurant is has been operated by McCormick's Fish House since they signed a lease with the Oxford Hotel in 1987. Landry's acquired McCormick's in 2011.The Cruise RoomThe Cruise Room is a bar located within the Oxford Hotel, considered a historic, upscale cocktail lounge, and known for its preserved Art Deco interior. It officially opened the day after prohibition ended. The bar is a single, windowless room, on the ground floor of The Oxford Hotel, located between the Corner Bar at McCormick's Fish House and the hotel lobby.HistoryThe bar opened as part of the Oxford Hotel in 1891, and was known for its martinis, though not originally named the Cruise Room.During prohibition, The Cruise Room operated as an illicit speakeasy. Employees know of secret paneling and underground tunnels.After prohibition, The Cruise Room was officially opened (with its full interior and full bar) the day after Prohibition ended. As an extension of the hotel and its restaurant, this bar has operated continually since its official opening.

is a small plaza located on the north/east side of the intersection of 19th Street and Larimer Street in Denver, Colorado. The square contains busts of Ralph L. Carr, Governor of Colorado from 1939 to 1943, Minoru Yasui, a Japanese-American lawyer, and Yoshitaka Tamai (1900–1983), a Buddhist priest who lived in Denver. Sakura Square also has a small Japanese garden, and it serves as the entrance to the 20-story Tamai Tower apartment building that occupies most of the block. There are several shops and restaurants in the ground and first floors of the apartment building.Bust of Governor CarrDenver's Japanese-American community installed the bust of former Governor Carr as a tribute to his support of Japanese-Americans during the period of their internment. Colorado Governor Ralph Lawrence Carr was the only elected official in the United States to publicly apologize to the Japanese Americans for their internment, which many argue cost him the 1942 election to the U.S. Senate, but won him the gratitude of the community, and Japanese Americans everywhere.The Annual Cherry Blossom FestivalDenver's annual Cherry Blossom Festival takes place in late June in and around Sakura Square and the Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple. During the celebration, many traditional Japanese practices are celebrated, such as the Japanese tea ceremony and ikebana (flower arrangement). During the festival, many food stands offering Japanese cuisine line the street, along with various vendor booths, community information tables, and a live music stage. In the evening, a traditional bon odori dance is held on the street, with many participants dressing in yukata or other traditional Japanese attire.
Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park, locally known as "Elitch's", is an amusement park in Denver, Colorado. It is owned by Stanley Kroenke and operated by Premier Parks, LLC. Elitch Gardens is unique in that it is located in a downtown area and is open May through October.HistoryGurtler era (1994-1995)As space was getting scarce at the original location of Elitch Gardens at 38th Avenue and Tennyson Street, the Gurtler family and their financial partners purchased a 67.7acre plot of land in the Platte River valley near downtown Denver for the price of $6.1 million in June 1994. $90 million was spent relocating some rides from the original park and construction of the new park. The money was from a mix of public and private dollars and various loans.On October 1, 1994, the original park closed its gates forever and a majority of the rides were moved to the new property. On May 27, 1995, the new Elitch Gardens opened up to lower than expected crowds. Attendance was weaker than the expected 1.2 million guests the park aimed for. Some notable rides at the park's opening were the original Carousel and Sidewinder roller coaster, relocated from the old park; and a new version of the Mister Twister, the Twister II.In October, 1996, the Gurtler family and its partners sold the park to growing theme park operator Premier Parks for $65 million.Premier era (1996-1998)Premier noted the lackluster figures the new park had in its first two seasons and new additions were soon rushed in for the park's third season. The first and most notable addition was the park's third roller coaster, Mind Eraser, a Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster. The next big addition was Tower of Doom, an Intamin freefall ride that stands at 220ft. Also added was the park's 700-seat Trocadero Theater, named after the famous ballroom and dance hall at the original park. The price tag for these additions came to a total of $28 million.
