Henry Ford Hospital (HFH), the home of the Henry Ford Medical Group (HFMG), is a state-of-the-art, 802-bed tertiary care hospital, education and research center located in Detroit’s New Center area.
The hospital is recognized for clinical excellence in the fields of:

Recently, HFH has invested more than $310 million to expand its facilities to meet the needs of the 21st century patient. It is also designated as a Level 1 trauma center with one of the busiest emergency departments in the state.
HFMG, one of the largest group practices in the United States, with 1,200 physicians and researchers in 40 specialties, staff HFH and 29 Henry Ford Medical Centers throughout southeast Michigan. HFMG was one of the first groups in the country to document patients’ visits directly from a desktop computer into an electronic medical record. HFMG is also a national leader in other technological advances, including the use of E-prescribing, which allows physicians to write prescriptions from a personal computer or wireless devise and send them directly to a pharmacy, reducing the cost and the risk of medical errors. Another unique program - E visits - allows people to communicate with their physicians via e-mail.
Teaching, research and advanced patient care make HFH a premier academic medical center. Affiliated with Wayne State University’s School of Medicine, HFH provides innovative physician training programs and collaborates on leading-edge medical research. HFH receives more than $60 million in annual funding from internal and outside sources and ranks in the top 6 percent of all institutions granted funding by the National Institutes of Health. Staffed with more than 150 medical specialists and research scientists, researchers are involved in several hundred individual research projects.
Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) is a state and national leader in medical education for medical students, interns, residents and fellows and the continuing education of faculty, affiliated physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. Each year, HFHS trains more than 1,500 future physicians. Students are able to train at The Henry Ford Center for Simulation Center; a $5 million, 15,000 square foot facility that provides staff with hands-on training to ensure the safe and effective delivery of health care. Using state-of-the-art simulations in a risk-free environment at Henry Ford Hospital, the “Sim Center” is the most comprehensive of its kind in Michigan, and one of the largest in the United States.
