The Fashion Class is a creative environment for children as young as 5, teens up to 17 and adults of all ages to learn the fun of designing and sewing their own clothing. In 2009 The Fashion Class founder Kerri Q. began teaching an after-school fashion program offered to private New York city schools. After a popular first year and even more popular second (with new schools added to our list each term) The Fashion Class was officially born (2010) and began offering classes outside of schools so that any child in the NYC area could learn to sew and design. In 2014 our second full time studio in Merrick NY opened for the fashionistas of Long Island. We now offer classes in Manhattan, Long Island and Brooklyn for children and teenagers ages 6 through 18 years. Our locations cover midtown and the garment center (21 W 39th St), the Upper East Side (1412 2nd Ave), Merrick Long Island (1812 Merrick Road) and Carroll Gardens Brooklyn (128 Union St). Our classes include fashion drawing, art + design, craft making, accessory design, sewing and fashion design. All supplies are included in our fee and all students keep their creations. Our sessions end with a fashion show (on our exclusive light up runway) where our students model and showcase the clothing, accessories, and artwork they’ve created throughout the semester! We offer class options 7 days per week in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Summer is dedicated to our full day 2-week summer fashion camp program where students sew, design, and visit real fashion design showrooms. We've visited Austin Scarlett from Project Runway, Marchesa, Alice + Olivia, Anne Klein, Marie Claire Magazine, and so much more! We also offer one day through week long fashion camps over school break holidays such as Columbus Day, Presidents Day, winter break, and Spring Break school holidays. Finally our Fashion Design Birthday parties are an absolute blast. Located in Midtown Manhattan and Merrick NY, we can sew and decorate a bag or skirt, decorate t-shirt, and even put on a full fashion show complete with hair, makeup and clothing styling!
American Youth Dance Theater offers year-round classes, summer camp programs, and performance opportunities for children ages 2-18. Classes include Mommy-n-Me, Pre-Ballet, Graded Level Ballet, Tap, Broadway Jazz/Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. Our ballet faculty consists of American Ballet Theater Affiliate Teachers and the ABT National Training Curriculum is followed in all of our classes. Little Picasso NYC is a children’s art studio. It is a place where children can have fun, get messy,create and experiment with studio and visual arts. The youngest group of children being 2 years old and up to NO LIMITS in age, they are taught to think outside the box and venture into their own magical world of pure imagination while exposed to studio skills at their age appropriate level. It is not an arts and crafts establishment. It is an artists studio for budding young artists. My name is Isabella Grossman, founder of Little Picasso NYC. Inspired by my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter Novella, I have established the studio back in May of 2011. I have lived in China for several years running and managing a company that manufactures women’s fine accessories and related sportswear separates made of Eco-friendly fabrics and materials. Acted as the head designer, chief production officer and CFO, I was faced with the challenge of having to make a decision when I learned that my daughter was about to become the mother of my first grand child: Do I go back home and face the uncertainties of a tough economy, in competition with young college graduates working at entry level internship positions for what ever jobs might be available, if any, be the grandmother, or keep my ideal job in Guangzhou until retirement? I had no life, married to my job and working on the average of 15 hours a day – It was time to come home! My worst fears came to be: Looking for work, overqualified and middle aged my resources were dwindling while watching Novella grow up. Spending every precious moment available with her and grooming her into a little young artist as soon as she was old enough to stand up and grab things. Forced to work at odd jobs and freelance gigs (not too many available – the jobs were in China) I was creating a Little Picasso without realizing it. My daughter was watching us with joy when she dropped the brilliant brainstorm idea shortly before Novella’s 2nd birthday. “Mom stop looking for a job, the ideal job for you no longer exists in this country. Take what ever money you have left and do this for a living. Open up a children’s art studio – This is your calling” A month later Little Picasso NYC opened the doors to the public in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, one block south of where my granddaughter lives. I am home!

Psychology is concerned with all aspects of the study of behavioral, developmental and cognitive processes, and employs a broad spectrum of approaches, from the social to the biological, to understand them. The Hunter College psychology program reflects the diversity of psychology as a science and as a profession. Its course offerings span this spectrum, from clinical, social and developmental psychology to experimental psychology, ethology, biopsychology and behavioral neuroscience. Students have personal contact with faculty through an extensive advisement system, involvement in departmental activities and committees, supervised field placement, and participation in research laboratories under the guidance of faculty mentors as part of our independent study, honors and COR (Career Opportunities in Research and Education) programs. A broad range of applied research opportunities are available within the department in developmental psychology, social psychology, human adjustment, animal behavior, physiological psychology and abnormal psychology. Departmental affiliations with mental health and community organizations make it possible for students to integrate their academic studies of personality, abnormal and child psychology with supervised practical experience by means of field placements and opportunities for applied research. Hunter College offers two Master’s programs: a MA in Psychology and a MA in Animal Behavior and Conservation (ABC). The Master’s program in Psychology allows students to tailor their studies and thesis work toward the areas of Applied, Developmental Social and/or Biological Psychology. The Master’s in ABC is designed for students interested in the fields of Animal Behavior, Conservation, and Animal Welfare. Hunter College also offers a Certificate program in ABC (registered with the New York State Education Department) open to post-baccalaureate students who by virtue of prior education or experience are qualified for additional training. The CUNY doctoral program in Biopsychology and Behavioral Neuroscience is housed at Hunter College. Qualified undergraduate students in their senior year may be admitted to graduate courses with the approval of the instructor and the department's graduate advisor. The presence of graduate programs at Hunter increases opportunities for undergraduates to interact and work with graduate students in research laboratories.

The LGBT Social Science & Public Policy Center at Roosevelt House was founded in 2008 by Hunter College faculty with interest in utilizing their research to improve public policy for LGBTQ individuals and communities. Our mission is built upon their vision for creating bridges between researchers and the policy arena. The Center is rooted in interdisciplinary social science and comprised of an Executive Committee, Hunter Advisory Board, CUNY Research Board, and an active student policy group (AQuIPS) https://www.facebook.com/aquipshunter. All board members are social science researchers or policy faculty with expertise in LGBTQ issues or in gender and sexuality more broadly. The mission of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Social Science & Public Policy Center is to support social science and policy research on LGBT issues to inform policy decisions; to disseminate findings to inform public opinion and promote LGBT social, health, and political equity; and to provide LGBT policy academic training and practicum opportunities for Hunter students. We aim to: Address the key current LGBT policy issues in New York City, New York State, the United States, and Internationally Create a public platform for social scientists and policy scholars to contribute to public policy discussions Increase the visibility of LGBT policy-relevant research Foster collaboration and collegiality between CUNY researchers and policy scholars addressing LGBT policy issues across campuses Support social science and policy faculty in their LGBT research and in making their work accessible to a broader audience LGBT Social Science & Public Policy Center holds public symposia on pressing policy issues bringing together policy makers with researchers in the field, book talks with social scientists writing on key LGBTQ social issues, brown bags featuring the work of board members, and policy round tables. Board members serve as experts in policy hearings, consult on the drafting of legislation, produce policy white papers, and teach their students about engaged scholarship. We also support a student policy group (AQuIPS), offer undergraduate classes, and an intensive undergraduate fellowship program. Education sociologist Dr. Elizabethe Payne currently serves as Interim Director. Her Queering Education Research Institute (QuERI) http://www.queeringeducation.org is now housed in the LGBT Social Science & Public Policy Center. The LGBT Social Science & Public Policy Center is located in Hunter’s Casa Lally, 132 East 65th Street, on the third floor. It is two blocks east on 65th Street from Roosevelt House. For the performing arts student, New York City is the place to begin, to learn, to grow, and to be seen. The student who chooses the Theatre Arts programs at Marymount Manhattan College wants something special: professional theatre training combined with a strong liberal arts education in Manhattan. The Theatre Arts programs offer men and women individualized attention and a strong faculty advisement program. This enables qualified students to take on substantial projects and roles beginning with their first year. The Theatre Arts programs can be augmented by choosing a minor in Musical Theatre, Arts Management, or Communication Arts, as well as in many other areas. Independent study projects provide opportunities for specialized training and performance experience. Junior and senior level students may also study abroad for credit at schools such as the British Academy of Dramatic Arts (BADA) or the Drama Studio in London. Internships in a variety of settings (Broadway, Off and Off-Off Broadway, television, dance) develop experience and a potential employment network in the NYC performing arts community.
