Youth Sing Praise began in 1982 as a ministry to youth by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL in order to train young liturgical musicians and promote the composition of liturgical music and musical theatre. Over the years, and now under the management of the Youth Sing Praise Foundation, Inc. (since 2011), YSP serves youth of any religious background. Over the course of 9 days (8 nights), young people are empowered to use their vocal and theatrical gifts to be a witness of God's love to the greater community. Professional theatrical staff (music, acting, choreography) help students sharpen skills and build their confidence. Caring and attentive youth ministers serve as a sort of "spiritual camp counselor" to ensure the well-being and personal growth of each student as they navigate a demanding but enriching week. Program administrators and a young adult volunteer team take care of behind-the-scenes planning and preparation for a retreat and camp experience that is one-of-a-kind and strives for ministerial and theatrical excellence. Participants and their families are at once keenly aware that YSP is, above all, a place to belong, a family that combines the talents and passion of so many to create an experience that is unique and unmatched in its power to change lives through engaging artistic expression and faith. Our Catholic foundation and values shape our commitment to invite students of any financial ability, faith background or skill level to take part. Our joyful witness to God's goodness has had an amazing impact not just in our extensive YSP family, but rippled into the greater community (in St. Louis region and nationally) through a free annual stage performance before an audience of thousands. Because of this impact, over 50% of our operating budget comes from the donations of our supporters.
Here are some things you should know: The setting is very casual – the pastor wears jeans, coffee is served, and laughter is a regular part of our service. The service – you will hear a wide variety of musical styles, biblical teaching, and be invited to participate in prayer, asking questions, and singing along. Our expectations of you – we don’t really have any. Our mission is to meet you wherever you are on your spiritual journey. Our hope is that you will be open minded and allow God to help you take another step closer to Him. What you won’t find – The Church-Lady, average church coffee, judgmental people, boring kid’s ministries, Jimmy Hoffa (although all are welcome.)
St. John's, Tower Grove, is a growing, progressive congregation in the Episcopal tradition. In addition to the activities of our worshiping congregation, St. John's partners with many community groups and organizations. We are a "Believe Out Loud" congregation (pro LGBT) and a Proud Parish Partner of Integrity USA. We offer a free meal every Saturday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. EVERY Saturday.
We invite you to worship with us, and feel free to contact us if you do not find the information you are looking for. "To all who need a church home, to all who are lonely and need friendship, to all who sin and need a Saviour, to all who mourn and need comfort, and to whosoever will come, this church opens wide its heart and its doors, and in the name of Jesus Christ says: WELCOME." Planting of the Lord Apostolic Ministry is a church founded to spread Christian doctrine of the Hispanic people of the city of St. Louis and from there to impact the nations.
Saint Louis is a city of broad diversity. The many languages spoken in South St. Louis and the booming ethnic restaurant industry are signs of the blessings newcomers bring. Each year, the city welcomes close to 4000 new immigrant, refugee, and transient residents. St Louis is second in the nation in the ratio of foreign born to native born citizens. In the midst of such extraordinary diversity, many local churches are neither aware of nor prepared to meet this people’s unique range of needs. The joyful calling of the body of Christ is to unite across national borders and personal tension. Rise Together Ministries seeks to enable our appendage of the body of Christ to join with the new members that have come into our midst. Through an array of programs, this group bridges the difficult gaps that refugees face in order to acclimate to American life. Since its founding in 2006 by Worku Geremew, an Ethiopian immigrant, Rise Together Ministries has been working steadily to improve the lives of our new neighbors.
