90% of all men and women relapse within the first 90 days of leaving treatment or detox. Without a positive, safe and encouraging environment in which to live these newly recovering individuals hardly stand a chance. And rather than following the program of recovery they inevitably fall back into their old patterns and end up addicted and on the street again. Every day, we help heal the devastating effects of addiction by providing structured residential and assistance programs that reduce & prevent homelessness, unemployment, poverty and crime caused by substance abuse.
We provide full service psychological care and assessments for our returning Veterans and those applying for Social Security or VA Disability income.
We offer a Masters in Counseling with a school or community emphasis as well as a PhD program for Counselor Education and Supervision. Our program recently won the 2012 Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Robert E. Frank Outstanding Program Award at the American Counselor Education & Supervision Conference this year.

VOICES’ work centers around three types of activity: Research We convene stakeholders, experts in various arenas of interest, to identify issues to be addressed to improve outcomes for children. These may be public policies or programmatic practices. Advocacy We organize those stakeholders to develop recommendations that we advance to policy makers. In the programmatic area, we serve as a catalyst for collaboration, working for more effective service delivery. Messaging We work to frame clear and consistent messages that convey the wisdom of investing early in human capital development. Research supports that the pre-school years, birth to about age five, offer the richest opportunity to lay a positive foundation for a lifetime of fulfillment.
AARC utilizes the Johns Hopkins model of HIV Care, an integrated approach to treatment has proven effective due to the complexity of the patient population which is especially vulnerable to drop out from either social services care, medical treatment or both. To this end a “single point of care” model was developed to maintain treatment engagement. The AARC wrap-around care model includes medical providers, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health counselors, housing specialists, and supportive services on-site.
