The spectacular run course will take athletes through some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the State Capitol, Hillsborough Street, North Carolina State University and Meredith College campuses, and North Carolina Museum of Art. Animazement is an annual three-day anime convention held during May at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is traditionally held over Memorial Day weekend. The convention is designed to be family-friendly. Animazement is run by unpaid staff and volunteers.ProgrammingThe convention typically offers an artist alley, classes, concerts, cosplay chess, cosplay contests, dealers room, gaming tournaments, manga library, masquerade ball, musicians, panel discussions, raves, various gaming rooms, video screenings, and voice actors.Animazement raised over $12,000 for several charities in 2015.HistoryThe convention originates from an 1997 36-hour anime marathon, organized by the Triangle Area Anime Society at North Carolina State University. It was first held in Raleigh, North Carolina at the North Raleigh Hilton in 1998, moved to the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham, North Carolina for 2001, and to the month of May in 2002. In 2009, four Japanese guests canceled appearances due to quarantine concerns over the Swine flu. In 2009, Animazement moved to the Raleigh Convention Center. Noboru Ishiguro was scheduled to attend the 2012 event, but died prior to the event.Event historyNote: Animazement will be held Memorial Day weekend at the Raleigh Convention Center until 2018.

Preparing to celebrate its twenty-third year, First Night Raleigh is North Carolina's largest New Year's Eve celebration. Tens of thousands of people flock to downtown Raleigh each December 31 for the family-friendly community celebration of art, presented by Artsplosure. First Night Raleigh 2014 will take place on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 2:00 pm until Midnight. Festival venues are located across approximately 20 blocks of downtown Raleigh, from the Museums of History and Natural Sciences at the North to the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts at the South and from Edenton Street United Methodist Church at the West to Marbles Kids Museum and the Long View Center at the East. Check out the First Annual Raleigh Tattoo Festival, taking place September 26-28, 2014, at the Downtown Raleigh Sheraton. Presented by Folk City Tattoo and Twisted Ink magazine, this highly anticipated event will celebrate all aspects of the tattooing industry and welcome talented artists from as far away as Japan. "We are extremely pleased to present the first large scale tattoo festival in Raleigh as a part of Ray Price’s Capital City Bikefest weekend,” said Raleigh Tattoo Festival organizer and promoter John Cann. “There is some very special entertainment lined-up this year that promises a unique, one-of-a-kind experience, for everyone involved.” During the event, interested attendees have the option of speaking with tattoo artists from across the country and have the work performed on-site at the event. Each tattoo is an additional charge to the entrance fee price and is negotiated between customer and artist. In addition to on-site tattooing, The First Annual Raleigh Tattoo Festival welcomes The Enigma and Serana Rose in “Show Devils.” The duo will give two very special performances. He has appeared in television programs such as The X-Files and to date has had more than 200 tattoo artists work on him (as many as 23 at one time). The mission of the new AIA North Carolina Center for Architecture & Design (AIA NC CfAD) is to bridge architecture and the public. The facilities exhibit design excellence and represent the talent and aspirations of AIA North Carolina members. The building will provide headquarters for the AIA NC Chapter and will act as a contact point for government participation; a catalyst for public outreach; and a design education program to radiate throughout the state, provide public exposure for architects and their work, and serve as a source of pride for AIA NC members and the entire state. CfAD is home to the North Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and Activate14, as well as the Energy Foundation, Frank Harmon Architect, PA, and the Professional Engineers of North Carolina.
