Louisville Glassworks, the only facility of its kind in the country, brings together three different glass studios under one roof. Although not a typical museum, Glassworks offers daily tours of the working studios. Production work from the studios can be found and purchased in the Glassworks galleries, as well as works from local, regional, national and international artists. Visit Flame Run at Glassworks and the Mark Payton Glass Center! In addition to the studios, we have several unique spaces which can be used for special events such as weddings, receptions, holiday parties, etc. Flame Run at Glassworks' Blow Your Own Program and the Walk-In Workshop offer hands-on opportunities for the public. Visit Glassworks to see and experience glass in a whole new light. It truly is the HOTTEST place in town. BYO (Blow Your Own) Hot Blown Glass Try your hand at the art of glassblowing. Experience isn't necessary, but having a good time is! A Glassworks artist will assist with the technical side of the process, guiding you step by step, allowing you to choose colors, actually blow into the blowpipe and use traditional glassblowing tools. Create a unique gift for someone special or keep it as a remembrance of your exciting adventure in the Hotshop. BYO gift certificates are also available and guaranteed to spark delight. MYO (Make Your Own) Cold Fused Glass Design and create original fused glass art in the Walk-In Workshop. Participants learn to cut and layer glass, fabricating unique patterns which are then fired in a kiln. These pieces can then be slumped over molds to create a variety of fun and useful objects, such as platters, bowls, clocks and vases just to mention a few. The Walk-In Workshop is the perfect place for team-building outings, birthday parties, field trips or dates. FYO (Flame Your Own) Flameworked Glass Work one-on-one with Mark Payton of Payton Flameworks to create your own flameworked piece. The Marcus Lindsey, now a National Historic Landmark, Victorian era church, c. 1888, was completely and thoughtfully restored, with completion in late 2011, grand opening in April of 2012. It is, without a doubt, the most unique, complete and awe-inspiring special function venue in Louisville. All this bordering the coolest area in Louisville, the Nulu District. The oldest part of the building was constructed in 1888. In 1898, the cornerstone was laid for the "modern" sanctuary. It served as a Methodist church for over a century and now stands as one of the most popular properties in the NuLu District of Louisville — the latest, perhaps greatest, and certainly the most unique special event venue space in the city. The Marcus Lindsey is available for functions, large and small. Passalino's is also located in the heart of downtown Louisville on the corner of 2nd & Market Street. Passalino's features a mezzanine which overlooks into the Grand Ballroom. Passalino's can accommodate up to 225 guests and a dance floor.
The Brennan House is the last remaining Victorian mansion along what was once a residential street in downtown Louisville. Located at 631 S. 5th, the house dates to 1868 and features original interior finishes, lighting and furnishings from the Brennan family's extensive personal collection.
The KFC Yum! Center is a multi-purpose sports arena in Downtown Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It is named after the KFC restaurant chain and Yum! Brands, the parent company of KFC. Adjacent to the Ohio River waterfront, it is located on Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets and opened on October 10, 2010. The arena is part of a $450 million project that includes a 975-car parking structure and floodwall.The Louisville Cardinals men's and women's basketball teams from the University of Louisville are the primary tenants of the arena complex. The U of L women's volleyball team began using the arena as a part-time home in 2011, and made the arena its main home in 2012. With 22,090 seats for basketball, it is the second-largest college arena by seating capacity in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, behind Rupp Arena at the University of Kentucky, and the third-largest in the United States, behind the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University and Rupp Arena. The arena's current attendance record is 22,815, set March 9, 2013 against Notre Dame.Since its opening, the KFC Yum! Center has been a frequent spot for major concerts.
