The Tufts School of the Museum of Fine Arts is one of the schools that comprise Tufts University, located in Boston, Massachusetts. The school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees dedicated to the visual arts. It is affiliated with the Museum of Fine Arts. SMFA is also a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, a consortium of several dozen leading art schools in the United States.OverviewThe school does not have a foundations program, but it does require all new students to take a freshman seminar. Encouraged to build an individual program of interdisciplinary study, students are not asked to declare a major, but by choosing among in-depth courses in a dozen disciplines, students are free to concentrate in a medium of their choice. One of the unique attributes of SMFA is that students are required to participate in a "Review Board" which is a review of all of the art work that a student has done during the semester. Review Boards are led by two faculty members, one of whom is the students' choice, and two fellow students. There are many opportunities for students to exhibit their artwork at both the main building and the Mission Hill building.Opportunities to exhibit works include the annual Museum School Art Sale and the juried "Student Annual Exhibition". Various galleries and spaces that are available to students around the school buildings include Bag Gallery, Hallway Gallery, Bathroom Gallery, Underground Gallery, as well as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
MassArt's professional and continuing education program is about two things: creative vision and technical skills. We believe that great art requires both. Our faculty, facilities, and curriculum reflect this belief. Our faculty is comprised of practicing artists who set high standards for themselves and encourage their students to do the same. Our facilities are built for working artists. Our curriculum is designed to nurture individual expression and creativity while helping students master the appropriate tools. Our students are diverse, yet have one common characteristic: they appreciate the effort and dedication that successful art-making requires.

The Boston University Marine Program provides a rigorous, interdisciplinary education in marine science to undergraduate and graduate students. Our curriculum trains students in all aspects of marine science - biological, chemical, geological, and physical. While the typical science curriculum teaches undergraduates about science, BUMP teaches students how to be scientists. We accomplish this by requiring all majors to complete the Marine Semester, an intellectually demanding sequence of four consecutive research-based courses. These often-transformative experiences immerse students in faculty research, expose them to pressing issues in marine science, and give them tangible skills for the next stage of their careers. We strive to prepare BUMP graduates for top jobs in marine science and for positions in elite graduate programs. More broadly, we aim to increase marine literacy and contribute to the worldwide effort to preserve and protect threatened marine ecosystems and sustainably manage critical marine resources.

The Center for the Study of Europe at Boston University was established in the fall of 2011 to succeed the Institute for Human Sciences (IHS). Its mission is to promote understanding of Europe through its cultural heritage; its political, economic, and religious histories; its art, literature, music, and philosophy; as well as through its recent emergence as a new kind of international form through the European Union. The IHS was established at Boston University in November 2001 as a joint iniative of the University and the Vienna-based Institut fur die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM), an independent, interdisciplinary center for advanced study in the humanities and social sciences, and Boston University. The undertaking was propelled by political circumstances: changes in relations between New and Old worlds wrought by the collapse of the bi-polar world order at the 20th century and the imminent enlargement of the European Union at the beginning of the 21st. The mission of the IHS was to initiate policy-oriented projects of an American-European scope and help to achieve their implementation, as well as to serve as the American base for joint projects with the IWM.
