HISTORY- I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I grew up surrounded by cakes as a result of my mother having started the cake business from our home. She introduced me to baking and decorating cakes. I studied Occupational Therapy at the University of Puerto Rico, but the hobby of Cake Decorating was my real love and passion. I began Ana Paz Cakes in Miami in 1978. I became associated with the Miami Airport Marriott Hotel by providing them cakes which they would include as part of their Wedding Packages. This revolutionized how catering departments around South Florida by providing Premium Desserts in their menus. A short while after, other hotels followed. The Vanilla Rum Cake was soon a hit and the properties began asking for my cake and the word-of-mouth spread until now, 33 years later. The success of my business has been the involvement of all my family. My husband Charlie engineers our 3-Dimensional structures and has taught me how to create statuesque figurines, as well. He has a passion for building sophisticated Model Airplanes and has translated his knowledge into the backbone of our most complicated maquettes. I call him lovingly, “my engineer-in-chief.” My three creative daughters each enhance our business in different ways. Camille, my eldest has decorated cakes along my side just as I have and takes care of the many accounts we have in South Florida. Cecilia, my middle child is a Fine Artist who is a Master Portrait Painter who also is Editor of www.MiamiArtBlog.com She holds a Master of Fine Arts and has professionally taught Art at Miami Dade College (www.ceciliapaz.com). She sculpted large-scale works such as the Taj Mahal, Limousines, Human Figures like that of Shaquille O’Neal, Donatella Versace's Medusa for 400 guests, airbrushed musical artist, Timbaland's Face on a fondant cake with Swarovski Crystals and designed and created, Dennis Rodmans NBA Hall of Fame Cake on September 1, 2011. Sarah, my youngest has her own Cake company called www.TheOfficeCake.com where you can order small cakes, cup cakes, mini-cup cakes, cookies, lavish candy stations for parties. Most cakes can be for the same day and you can even have them shipped overnight to a friend. Graciously, The Miami Herald quoted me as “Baker to the Stars.” The Miami community has elevated my product to become a luxury brand and I am so humbled to be considered as such. As a destination wedding location, I realize we have many brides that are curious about having our cakes at their Wedding. Please call us in advance to set up an appointment to taste our Vanilla Rum and Chocolate Cake. We do offer other flavors and fillings, yet they have to be specially ordered with an actual paper order as your receipt and can be an additional charge. Due to increased call volume, should you reach a voice mail during business hours, please wait a few minutes and call again to reach a person. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday (10:30am-5pm.) Appointments are strongly recommended and please keep in mind we have limited space in our small office. Walk-ins are welcome, yet guests who have prior appointments will have priority.
