Who we are: ETS is a fully accredited ecumenical seminary committed to providing the best theological education in southeastern Michigan while remaining rooted in Detroit. We offer several degree programs in ministry as well as a certificate program theological studies and an urban ministry diploma. We are committed to embracing the diversity found in our city and suburbs and to transcend the boundaries typical in such a setting in order to overcome alienation and help build bridges between our city and its suburbs. What we do: We train students to become effective church and lay leaders for the 21st century church, through a course of study which emphasizes the centrality of Christian ethics and social justice ideals. ETS encourages students to begin their training with a course in church and society, whose purpose is to examine how social position provides the foundations for beliefs and values. We provide opportunities for students to practice their beliefs within urban ministry settings, and to work with an outstanding faculty of academic and church leaders who serve as mentors for the journey.
The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law is the law school of the University of Detroit Mercy and is located in Downtown Detroit, Michigan across from the Renaissance Center. Founded in 1912, Detroit Mercy Law is a private Roman Catholic law school and has been ABA-accredited since 1933. The Law School has an annual enrollment of about 536 students and currently has 88 faculty members (28 full-time, 60 adjunct).Detroit Mercy Law offers full-time, part-time and extended part-time JD programs as well as a number of dual degrees, including a J.D./M.B.A. and Dual J.D. program. In 2009, the Law School admitted about 45 percent of its 1,707 full-time applicants and about 40 percent of its 219 part-time applicants. The Law School's JD 2016 entering class had a median LSAT of 151 and a median GPA of 3.15 and a median LSAT of 155 and a median GPA of 33.12 for Dual JD students. In January 2012, Detroit Mercy Law purchased a 6,000 sq. ft. facility across the street from its campus which will house the numerous clinics operated by the school.HistoryDetroit Mercy Law was founded as the University of Detroit Law School in 1912 . It is the oldest and most prestigious private law school in Michigan and it shares the Jesuit and Mercy tradition of value oriented education. The historic Renaissance-style campus is located between East Jefferson Avenue and East Larned Street just north of I-375 and is within a short walking distance to the Renaissance Center and numerous state and federal government buildings, including the Third Judicial Circuit Court and the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan among others.

The Fort Street Presbyterian Church is located at 631 West Fort Street in Detroit, Michigan. It was constructed in 1855, and completely rebuilt in 1876. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1971. Its steeple stands 265ft, making it one of the tallest churches in the United States.Early historyThe lot for the church was purchased from Mr. Shadrack and Mary (Stead) Gillett, whose home was located there prior to the construction of the church. The population of Detroit grew rapidly in the 1830s and 1840s, in particular bringing an influx of English Protestants to the city. In 1849, Reverend Robert Kellogg organized the Second Presbyterian Church, with 26 charter members. The congregation met for worship in the old Capitol building until it constructed a church on the corner of Lafayette and Wayne Street the next year.Construction and reconstructionIn 1852, Albert Jordan and his brother Octavius arrived in Detroit from Hartford, Connecticut, and soon established a place among the leading architects of the city. In the mid-1850s, despite a membership of only 167 people, the Second Presbyterian congregation hired the Jordans to design a new, larger church. The location the congregation picked was on Fort Street just west of downtown; at that time, the area was a popular residential district and home to many prominent citizens who were also members of the congregation, such as Russell A. Alger, James F. Joy (Henry B. Joy's father), Theodore S. Buhl, Henry D. Shelden, and Zachariah Chandler. After the move, the congregation changed its name to the Fort Street Presbyterian Church.
