The new, world-class, adrenaline-rushing, mind-blowing, cooler-than-cool Perot Museum of Nature and Science is now open... right here in Dallas. Our roots date back to 1936, with the opening of the Dallas Museum of Natural History in historic Fair Park, which would later merge with the Science Place and the Dallas Children’s Museum in 2006 to create the Museum of Nature & Science. The Museum of Nature & Science in Fair Park which houses our historical wildlife dioramas and active paleontology lab will remain a part of the Perot Museum, giving visitors the chance to see not only our new Museum in Victory Park but also our historic Museum in Fair Park.
The American Airlines Center is a multi-purpose arena, located in the Victory Park neighborhood, near downtown Dallas, Texas. The venue serves as the home to the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association, and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. The arena is also used for concerts and other live entertainment. It opened in 2001 at a cost of $420 million.History and constructionBy 1998, the Dallas Mavericks, then owned by H. Ross Perot, Jr., and the Dallas Stars were indicating their desire for a new facility to replace the dated Reunion Arena. Dallas taxpayers approved a new hotel tax and rental car tax to pay for a new facility to cover a portion of the funding, with the two benefiting teams, the Mavericks and the Stars, picking up the remaining costs, including cost overruns. The new arena was to be built just north of Woodall Rodgers Freeway near Interstate 35E on the site of an old power plant. On March 18, 1999, American Airlines announced that it would be acquiring the naming rights for the arena for US$195 million. American Airlines is headquartered in Fort Worth and is based at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
In 1977, the Colonel's granddaughter, Helen Belo Morrison, agreed to sell the property to the Dallas Bar Association. She had been born in the house in 1902 and felt the Bar's plan to restore the home as the Dallas Legal Education Center was in accordance with family principles and feelings. The Dallas Bar Association connected the historic home and the chapel with an expansive, glass-roofed atrium. In 2003, The Dallas Bar Association victoriously concluded its capital campaign which resulted in the addition of the exquisite Pavilion. Once again, the past was linked to the present and future through innovative design and distinctive architecture.
There is no place in the city like Arlington Hall. Built in 1939, restored and expanded in 2002, it is a place at once both historic and contemporary. Its enviable location in the heart of Lee Park is easily accessible from all parts of the city, yet it seems secluded beneath its canopy of trees. The magic of Arlington Hall's interior design is the lyrical flow of one space into another, allowing a feeling of a perfect fit for parties of all sizes. The Great Hall is grand, yet intimate. The Reception Room is expansive, yet welcoming. Together with the Lee Room, Dallas Room, Gallery, and Foyer, Arlington Hall is at once both freshly enchanting and wonderfully familiar. Arlington Hall's two terraces and stately portico provide gracious access to the great outdoors. Tented affairs are especially appropriate on the lawn and formal garden. Mature trees surround the building and frame the starlit sky, as custom-designed exterior lighting illuminates the area in captivating shades of moon glow
