The Clough Commons officially opened on Aug. 20, 2011 offering a 24/7 central place for Georgia Tech undergraduates to enhance all aspects of their academic lives. Features of the Clough Commons include: * modern and innovative science laboratories for foundational biology, chemistry, earth and atmospheric sciences, and physics courses; * technologically advanced classrooms ranging from intimate seminar classroom settings to tiered lecture halls; * a single facility housing undergraduate advising, tutoring, student success programs, and other student-centered academic services; and * sustainable design features that will enable certification as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building.

The Georgia Institute of Technology is a public research university in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. It is a part of the University System of Georgia and has satellite campuses in Savannah, Georgia; Metz, France; Athlone, Ireland; Shanghai, China; and Singapore.The educational institution was founded in 1885 as the Georgia School of Technology as part of Reconstruction plans to build an industrial economy in the post-Civil War Southern United States. Initially, it offered only a degree in mechanical engineering. By 1901, its curriculum had expanded to include electrical, civil, and chemical engineering. In 1948, the school changed its name to reflect its evolution from a trade school to a larger and more capable technical institute and research university.Today, Georgia Tech is organized into six colleges and contains about 31 departments/units, with emphasis on science and technology. The Christopher W. Klaus Advanced Computing Building is a three-story academic building at the Georgia Institute of Technology that houses a portion of its College of Computing, College of Engineering, and related programs.HistoryFinancingIn 2000, the building was financed by a $15 million donation from successful internet entrepreneur and former Georgia Tech student Chris Klaus. Klaus was a founder of both Kaneva and Internet Security Systems. At the time of Klaus' contribution, it was the fifth-largest contribution by an individual in Georgia Tech's history. Klaus was 26 when he made the donation.PlanningArchitect Perkins+Will was selected. The site of the old Health Center was selected for the new computing building's location, and a new $7.1 million Health Center was built near the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center to free up that land. The Health Center faculty were then moved to the new facility in March 2003. Construction was initially planned to start in Summer 2003, but there was some difficulty in the ownership of the many parcels that the site encompassed. Several were of uncertain ownership, and Georgia Tech had to verify that it owned every part of the site before the Georgia Board of Regents would allow construction to proceed. "f you look at some old maps, way, way back when was just a few buildings, these were all home sites... Before the Board of Regents will allow anyone to build on a site, they have to have the deed in hand and know that the property belongs to the Board of Regents... That was a major, major issue for us... e literally had to go through with the city and everybody else trying to reconcile who’s the owner." Construction bids were set in December 2003, and the winning contractor was scheduled to begin in early January. General contractors WG Yates & Sons Construction received permission from the state to occupy the site in February 2004. From that date, the project was expected to take two years to complete.

Delta Upsilon (ΔΥ) is the sixth oldest international, all-male, college Greek social fraternity and is the oldest non-secret fraternity in North America. Founded on November 4, 1834, at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Delta Upsilon has initiated over 110,000 men into its brotherhood since its founding.

Georgia Tech's main campus occupies part of Midtown Atlanta, bordered by 10th Street to the north and by North Avenue to the south, placing it well in sight of the Atlanta skyline. In 1996, the campus was the site of the athletes' village and a venue for a number of athletic events for the 1996 Summer Olympics. The construction of the Olympic village, along with subsequent gentrification of the surrounding areas enhanced the campus.The Georgia Tech campus is located in Midtown, an area north of downtown Atlanta. Although a number of skyscrapers—most visibly the headquarters of AT&T, The Coca-Cola Company, and Bank of America—are visible from all points on campus, the campus itself has few buildings over four stories and has a great deal of greenery. This gives it a distinctly suburban atmosphere quite different from other Atlanta campuses such as that of Georgia State University.

The Georgia Institute of Technology, Udacity and AT&T have teamed up to offer the first accredited Master of Science in Computer Science that students can earn exclusively through the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) delivery format and for a fraction of the cost of traditional, on-campus programs.

The Office of the Arts is the administrative arm of Georgia Tech’s strategic arts initiatives, advocating for, promoting, and facilitating the execution of on-campus activities as well as community partnerships. The Office of the Arts also oversees the Ferst Center for the Arts, Tech’s premier performance venue. Whether students wish to participate in creative endeavors or be enriched by the efforts of others, the Office of the Arts helps to ensure they can pursue their interests to enhance their educational experience. The Southeast Regional Conference for Asian American Leaders (SERCAAL) is a non-profit, student-led conference originally started at the University of Florida. Research activity in the IEN is carried out in both the Pettit Microelectronics Research Center and the Marcus Nanotechnology Building. Pettit houses an 8,500-square-foot cleanroom (75% class 100, 25% class 10). Marcus includes an additional 10,000 square feet of semiconductor cleanroom space for nanoelectronic device (top-down) fabrication as well as 5,000 square feet of biological (bottom-up) cleanroom space.

The Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (CRA) is devoted to interdisciplinary research and education linking astrophysics, astroparticle physics, numerical relativity and gravitational wave physics. Our research focuses on extreme astrophysics such as mergers of black holes and neutron stars, central engines of active galactic nuclei, gamma ray bursts, and sources of the high energy cosmic rays and neutrinos.

The Invention Studio is a student-run makerspace open to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff for free. We provide tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, a waterjet, and more. No experience? No problem! Our friendly student volunteers, known as Prototyping Instructors, will teach you how to use the tools and help you with your project. We welcome personal projects, class projects, and academic research projects. The Invention Studio opened its doors in October 2008, offering students space and resources to develop innovative projects in a collaborative environment. The Invention Studio began as a support for the Capstone Design program, but it has spread to support more than 25 Georgia Tech design and build courses, and many research initiatives. The Invention Studio is unique in that students “own” the space. The Prototyping Instructors lead other students in the safe use and maintenance of the space and equipment, ensuring that the resources remain available to all students, faculty and staff regardless of major or status. Alpha Pi Mu was the brainchild of James T. French who in 1949 was a senior industrial engineering student at Georgia Tech. Nine men chosen through their affiliation with the Georgia Tech Chapter of Tau Beta Pi constituted the original membership of Alpha Pi Mu. The Georgia Tech engineers who led the initial developmental work wanted an organization to provide a common ground on which their outstanding young engineers could exchange ideas, and to provide experiences which could help their future professional development. In 1959, full membership in the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) was attained. Alpha Pi Mu is the only nationally accepted industrial engineering honor society, due to its association with ACHS. Chapters now exist in almost every major university with an accredited industrial and engineering program. There are currently 60 active chapters of the society and a membership of 15,000, with approximately 600 new members being initiated each year. While academic interests and abilities are required for membership, the society's overall goals are much broader.
