The Museum offers not only outstanding exhibits on the history of firefighting in Denver focusing on the Denver Fire Department, but innovative and exciting hands-on activities that allow visitors to interact with the traditional exhibits. The Colorado History Museum was a museum in Denver, Colorado, USA dedicated to the history of Colorado. It was at 1300 Broadway in Denver from 1976 to 2010, and was administered by the Colorado Historical Society, now known as History Colorado. It closed on 28 March 2010, and the building was demolished in June to make way for a new Colorado Judicial Complex. The replacement museum, the History Colorado Center, was constructed one block to the south.
The Denver Public Library Commission named the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library. Former Mayor Wellington Webb and First Lady Wilma Webb proposed the name, which combines the last names of Omar Blair, the first black president of the Denver school board, and Elvin Caldwell, the first black City Council member. Background: A Missing Piece of History Denver Former Mayor Wellington E. Webb and First Lady Wilma J. Webb had a shared vision. They envisioned a research library and museum to preserve and showcase the many contributions of African Americans to Colorado and the West. Much of that history was in private hands — those of political leaders, community organizations, churches and individuals. Other history was unwritten, still in the heads and hearts of those who had lived it. In 1999, during his third term as Mayor of Denver, Mayor and Mrs. Webb saw the urgent need to collect this legacy in one place before it was lost forever. They proposed construction of an African American Research Library as part of the Denver Public Library system. “There’s so much history, and we need to capture that for young people,” he said. “So much of it is in boxes, in basements, or in our heads.” And so the journey of gathering that history began. By 2000, the Denver Public Library had engaged consultants and a community advisory committee to help plan the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library. Public meetings were held with neighborhoods that would use the facility, and Library staff began to collect personal and professional papers, publications, photographs, works of art and other memorabilia of distinguished African Americans from all walks of life. Finally, groundbreaking for the new library took place in early 2002. The Library continues to thrive as a neighborhood branch, a research library and museum. The Byers-Evans House Museum is a historic house museum in Denver, Colorado, United States.HistoryThe Byers-Evans house was built in 1883 by William Byers, the founder of the Rocky Mountain News and was sold to William Gray Evans in 1889. It is an Italianate style house which had several additions made to it over the years. William Evans lived in the home with his wife Cornelia Lunt Gray and their four children, John, Josephine, Margaret and Katharine. William's mother, Margaret Patten Gray Evans, former first lady of Colorado, moved into the home in 1900 with her unmarried daughter, Anne Evans. Members of the Evans family continued to live in the home until 1981.The house was donated to the Colorado Historical Society in 1981, along with the entire contents of the house. The house has been restored to the 1912–1924 period and includes approximately 90% of the original furniture, glassware, china, and other household items belonging to the Evans family.Byers-Evans House MuseumThe Byers-Evans House Museum is located in Denver, Colorado, at 1310 Bannock St, directly behind the Denver Art Museum. Guided house tours are offered, the museum may not be viewed by self-guided tour. The museum is administered by History Colorado.
The original goal of the National Ballpark Museum was to concentrate on ballpark memorabilia. Bruce Hellerstein meticulously acquired artifacts, bricks, postcards, jerseys, books, pictures and more. The collection grew to house seats from all the classic ballparks. Some of his most significant collectibles include: The light fixtures from the marble rotunda entrance to Ebbets Field, the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers The arched window and cornerstone from Forbes Field, the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wapiyapi is a Denver-based nonprofit organization offering a community of hope and support to families with childhood cancer. Our free camps, retreats and supportive services provide children with cancer and their families from Colorado, and beyond, a brief respite from their disease. Through participation in a variety of therapeutic group activities, our participants learn that they do not face their challenges alone. At Wapiyapi we know that our programs improve the mental health and outlook of our participants who are often stigmatized by childhood cancer and its effects upon their family. Healing does not always happen in hospitals. At Wapiyapi we establish additional circles from which families may draw the strength, support and inspiration necessary to continue healing.

Reading, writing, computing and arithmetic - The fundamentals of education have changed. It’s hard to imagine a job that doesn’t use a computer in some way shape or form, yet Colorado’s school system has struggled to close the technology gap for under-resourced youth. The gap between rich and poor is also a gap between those who have access to the opportunities technology brings and those without. In 2004, KidsTek, in collaboration with the University of Denver's Colorado Community-Based Research Network wrote a research study of the technology gap in Colorado - and its ramifications for our kids. Since KidsTek's inception, we have been working to to bridge that digital divide.
