J.Timothy's Taverne was established in 1988. Situated on the same property as the old Cooke's Tavern at 143 New Britain Ave in Plainville, CT, it has grown to be one of central Connecticut's finest casual theme restaurants. The building dates back to the year 1789, and was always a favorite stop for travelers along the Old College Highway. For over 225 years the Taverne has opened its doors to all and has hosted and shared many very special events. Today, J.Timothy's Taverne continues the tradition that Cooke's Tavern started many years ago as being one of Connecticut's favorite gathering places. J.Timothys fare consists of everything from appetizers and sandwiches, to steaks, seafood, chicken, many other favorites and of course, our award-winng chicken wings! It boasts many different private dining rooms to accommodate groups of all sizes.

The cottage offers fine dining in a relaxed convivial and quiet setting. we are conscientious when sourcing our food. We offer excellent food and wine at a great price point. My mother is the hostess with the mostess. Brother Dave is a knowledgable sommelier and an excellent mixologist. He attended windows on the world in the world trade center with Kevin Zraly. I am the chef. I enjoy cooking from the heart. When i create a dish i consider how i would most enjoy it and the dish evolves from there. I have been cooking professionally for over 25 years. I am a female chef and i enjoy feeding people. I want to make sure every dish is special and best i can do.

During this time, we have both had the dream that one day we would open our own restaurant right here in our hometown of Plainville, CT. Well, in early 2015 that dream became a reality and Lola’s Bistro & Grill was founded. After a lot of hard work and determination we have created a fresh new look and feel to an old spot right on Woodford Avenue. Lola’s Bistro & Grill promises to offer a warm and welcoming environment for everyone, featuring top notch food made from scratch each day, using only the freshest ingredients. Not to mention great pricing and the option of BYOB. The Blue Plate Tavern was the former Blue Plate Cafe.
