The 32nd Annual Fillmore Jazz Festival Saturday & Sunday, July 2 & 3, 2016 Fillmore Street ~ Jackson to Eddy San Francisco, CA 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Blending art and soul in one of the country's most unique neighborhoods, the Fillmore Jazz Festival is the largest free Jazz festival on the West Coast, drawing over 100,000 visitors over the Independence Day weekend. From sunup to sundown, visitors can groove to the sounds of live music from multiple stages, browse the offerings of over 12 blocks of fine art and crafts and enjoy gourmet food and beverages. Asian to Cajun, paintings to pottery, old favorites and new directions, the Fillmore Jazz Festival is not to be missed. This year's entertainment continues the tradition of showcasing outstanding artists from across the Jazz spectrum. The Russian Center of San Francisco was founded in 1939 by Russian immigrants as a focal point for the preservation of their rich cultural heritage. Tradition was passionately kept alive through operas, operettas, choirs, grand balls, folk dance ensembles and plays. Generation followed generation, and still the goal remains to preserve and display the warmth and spirit of the Russian culture. As a non-profit cultural organization, the Russian Center annually produces many cultural activities including operas, dance concerts, folk dance classes, social gatherings and lectures. The Russian Festival, held every February, is a three day showcase of food, art, music and dance, and attracts thousands of people from all over the San Francisco Bay Area and the world. The Russian Center is home to Teremok, a State certified Russian pre-school, Congress of Russian Americans, Museum of Russian Culture, Russian Life Daily Newspaper, a library of Russian books, Russian folk dancing classes, rhythmic gymnastic classes .
The Japan Center is a shopping center in the Japantown neighborhood of San Francisco, California. It opened in March 1968 and was originally called the Japanese Cultural and Trade Center. It is composed of three malls: the Kinokuniya Mall, Kintetsu Mall, and Miyako Mall. Anchor tenants include Books Kinokuniya and Sundance Kabuki Cinema.The Fuki-ya restaurant owned by Junko and Richard K. Diran is said to have been the first Robatayaki restaurant in the United States.The architecture of the site, created by Minoru Yamasaki, has been described as "Brutalist slabwork."San Francisco's Peace Pagoda is on the Japan Center site.
