The station is located on Northwest 21st Street near North Douglas Road (West 37th Avenue), just east of Le Jeune Road (West 42nd Avenue) and Miami International Airport (MIA), and south of the Miami River and the Airport Expressway (SR 112). When fully in service, it will serve Amtrak, Tri-Rail, Metrorail, Metrobus, and Greyhound Lines, and will provide a people mover connection to the airport via the MIA Mover. The station is signed as Miami International Airport on Metrorail and Miami Airport Station on Tri-Rail and Amtrak.

Surprisingly, Instahot, "hot water on demand," or "tankless hot water heaters" have been in continuous use since World War II. Predominately found in Europe in several different configurations since the 1940's, currently, Europeans exclusively use tankless hot water heaters because of their efficiency, small size, and energy savings. There are many differences between European and tankless water heaters. For example: the Europeans install a unit at every point of use; but, s demand their tankless system to be located where their original water tank was. Because of the configuration of the European units, the differing electrical systems, and the poor water pressure, the units are not compatible in the U.S. market without a major cost of redeveloping the units. To retrofit an house with the European design would be cost prohibitive. To create a tankless hot water heater which could be effective and efficient in the market, two problems emerged: 1) to build a single tankless water heater which would fit in an existing home. (In other words you take out ONE water tank and replace it with ONE tankless water heater.) and 2) to build a unit that would work on the U.S. electrical system and withstand the higher water-pressure requirements needed to operate safely, efficiently and effectively. With this ambitious objective, Niagara Industries, Inc. was born. Started in the early 1980's and incorporated in 1985, Niagara Industries was the first company in the U.S. to not only design a unit for the market, but also to improve on the concept by incorporating state-of-the-art electronics into the unit. In the 1980's the field of electronics for consumer appliances, was in its infancy. In the beginning, like most successful ventures, it was difficult to convince s that a small box, 1/10th the size of their current water tank, would not only perform better and give them endless hot water but it would also do this efficiently and more effectively, saving them hundreds of dollars on their annual electric bill! s were skeptical of this "too-good-to-be-true" new technology! Over the last two decades, Niagara Industries, Inc. has emerged as the predominant manufacturer of electronic tankless water heaters in the United States and has been instrumental in the advancement of tankless water heater design. The only company to maintain a fully staffed research and development center has placed Niagara Industries, Inc. at the forefront of this technology as an example of industry standards.
