The business was started in the 1950s by Frank Cucchero, Jr., and called Cucchero’s Truck Service. Mr. Cucchero cleared and filled lots; he delivered sand, soil and aggregates to residential and commercial customers. In the 1980s, the business was purchased by Chris Lockhart and his wife, Carol, the daughter of Mr. Cucchero. They renamed the company Cucchero & Lockhart Truck Service & Contractor. Along with the original products and services,the company has expanded into small-to-medium demolition and site prep. After hurricane Katrina, Cucchero and Lockhart became an integral part of the rebuilding effort in New Orleans. The company prepared numerous lots for Habitat for Humanity, subcontracted under various general contractors rebuilding public and private sectors of New Orleans, and was proud to have performed the site prep for the Katrina memorial. Recently, Cucchero and Lockhart moved into a new office and shop in Kenner. Around the corner is a material yard where garden soil, sand and aggregates are stocked for pick up and delivery.
